I don't take it as an indictment of the RB room. They're obviously experimenting with formations and players and I'm all for it. Go Schotty..............

After I posted it there was another blurb from one of the reporters that said this was Schotty's doing, and that he wanted to see more of it last yr too but Fat Mike said no. We did see a handful of plays with him at the RB spot.

No practice today. Players that have seemed to be mentioned the most that I have noticed (in a positive way)

1) Donovan Ezeiruaku- has improved every day and his last two practices were labeled "dominant" by more than a few reporters

2) Kair Elam- has made plays every day it seems...they have been impressed with him and he has probably locked down a starting job at CB already...

3) Marshawn Kneeland- has been all over the place and has opened some eyes rushing the passer to...also had a pick on Prescott

4) George Pickens- seems to be exactly what everyone was hoping he'd be. Has had some highlight reel catches and plays every day. Him and Lamb could be scary good together.

5) Deuce Vaughn- will be a surprise to many because he was an afterthought, but he has had a number of really impressive runs and has caught a few throws as well...looks more like the running he was at K State (which prob shouldnt be a surprise considering it's the same OL coach and mostly the same blocking scheme)

Would throw in Kevonte Turpin (receiver and as a RB), DE Sam Williams, LB Marist Liufau and backup QB Joe Milton too

Eh. They've actually posted plenty of reps where he has looked pretty good too. His run blocking has also been impressive.

EZ is just really good. He's going to burn a lot of T's this year.

I didn't have much faith in the former OL coaches, but I do in Adams and Riley.

5. Tyler Guyton - It's a big year for the former first round pick. There's an expectation now from fans around the NFL to see a significant jump in production from year one to year two in the league. So far, Guyton has checked all the boxes. Has it been a perfect week of practice? No. But he's shown an ability to pick up pass rushers by standing strong in his sets and footwork. Multiple times already, he's shown growth in his ability to reset his hands and regain leverage against some of the speed rushers Dallas employs. Each proving that progress has been made in the offseason, and the teaching is paying off.

4. Kaiir Elam-
Following a stellar offseason and initial impression in Dallas, Elam has continued his momentum in Oxnard. He kicked off training camp with an interception off Dak Prescott during Wednesday's practice, even earning high praise from Brian Schottenheimer. "He plays the game the right way," Schottenheimer said. "He studies, he's on top of splits, awareness, and relating to receivers based on their splits." Going back to OTAs and minicamp, he's constantly impressed by making plays on the football and showing high-level football IQ and confidence during his first season in Dallas. Due to the lack of overall health at the cornerback position, Elam's rise to a possible starting position would cement an under-the-radar steal by the front office this offseason.

3. CeeDee Lamb- No surprise here. The first time that CeeDee Lamb is back on the practice field in Oxnard since 2023 and he finds his way into the highlight reels again. Lamb has made a habit of exciting grabs and jaw-dropping athleticism in practices since his rookie season in 2020, but this year feels like the start of something special. The pre-snap motion and misdirection that Schottenheimer's offense has showcased so far, all could play towards Lamb's skillset, which we're seeing already in practice.

2. Donovan Ezeiruaku- Every year, one rookie tends to steal the show in the early portion of practices. This year, Ezeiruaku has been that guy for Matt Eberflus' defense. Without Micah Parsons in the rotation, the second-round rookie has taken advantage of the extra snaps by winning reps against both the first- and second-string offensive lines. He has recorded multiple sacks, including a clear one of Dak Prescott in Thursday's team drills. Ezeiruaku has also benefitted from the advice and conversations that Parsons has given him, despite not participating in practice himself (as seen below).

1. George Pickens- All eyes have been on Pickens since the moment he arrived in Dallas. "How would he fit in? How will he mesh with the offense? How will he contribute?" So far, all these questions have been answered by Pickens who has turned in three impressive practices so far. Whether it's his knowledge of the offense, his ability to block in the run game, or his incredible hands and athleticism in the passing game, Pickens has been the star of camp so far. This doesn't take anything away from CeeDee Lamb, who still landed at number three on the list. Instead, it's a credit to Lamb and the entire coaching staff for allowing Pickens to be himself and be comfortable in a new situation.
