What do you think about Jimmy and his cohort?
I like a lot of what they say but he seems too absolute with certain positions like constantly calling whats happening in Israel a genocide plus I saw an episode where they posted a video of Ukrainian solders stating the war needed to end asap and it was unwanted, etc. Problem is, these soldiers made these statements while being held by the Russians as POWs which in my opinion renders anything they had to say moot. This would be like taking the word of US POWs in Vietnam where they trash the US and the war.
I'm not a fan of war by any means and will always be on the side of peace but sometimes, thats not an option. I think thats the case in Israel currently. Looking at the situation coldly, its clear (and some might say ruthlessly effective) that Hamas (& many or maybe most Palestinians) use their women and children as canon fodder to garner sympathy as a tactic to fight a superior foe who has them severely outgunned and it works in many peoples eyes. It seems clear to me that this in no way represents a genocide because if thats what Israel wanted to do, they could wipe out every man, woman and child (which is what I understand an actual genocide aims to do).
Given the Old Testament advocates for genocide:
"Now go and attack the Amalekites and completely destroy everything they have. Do not spare them. Kill men and women, infants and nursing babies, oxen and sheep, camels and donkeys.’” (1st Samuel 15:3)
I suspect there are some orthodox and hardcore Jews that would gladly take this approach without reservation.
To me there are only 3 possible solutions:
Annihilation
Capitulation
Forgiveness (& reconciliation)
The only one I'd advocate for (forgiveness) will never be an options as the wounds cut too deep and have gone on too long.
Neither side will capitulate and Annihilation is unacceptable to almost any reasonable person (although I suspect there are people on both sides that would be fine with this as long as it was their enemy)
Even when it looked like a peace deal might be obtained between Egypt's Anwar Sadat and Israel's Yitzhak Rabin, they were both assassinated BY THEIR OWN PEOPLE!
The Al-Aqsa Mosque was built on top of the site where Solomon's Temple was around 685 AD which strikes me as an in your face move by the Muslims and also shows the Jews are not recent "occupiers" as history clearly shows they've been there in some capacity for thousands of years
Bottom line is this conflict has no end in sight and its probably going to bring the rest of the world down with it eventually
