2018 NFL Week #1 Gameday Thread: Dallas Cowboys (0-0) @ Carolina Panthers (0-0)

If we go back and look, you'll find other QB's who started off strong or had good seasons but they were a fluke. By the same token, Aikman wasn't as bad as his rookie year and was better than a 1 win QB. It happens. A good HC can hide Dak's flaws and maybe get the team to 8 and 8 or 10 and...

I agree dbair. But we need a better QB just like we need a better HC. They are not mutually exclusive and I don't excuse the short comings of the one (Dak) because the HC is a fraud. That doesn't excuse some of the poor throws we've seen. We should get better in all areas.

I don't think he looked very good to open the season last year and I saw red flags in the first game against the Giants. At the very least, I expected some improvement from year 1 but he digressed. I've been saying it all off-season, watching Prescott throw for approximately 30 yards in a half...

5 thoughts from Cowboys' season-opening loss at Carolina

We didn't sustain any drives for Zeke to get 30 carries. I mean, we gave him the ball even on 2nd and long (17). In any event, teams are going to continue to stack the box and Zeke is going to continue to struggle until we can complete some passes downfield.

Damn. OK buddy. Just checking. Are you a pilot by any chance?

    Your takes on Dak..

I think it was Jarwin that was open in the end zone on a post route. I didn't think he ran it as well as Witten used to but he (Witten) and Tony made a living off that play. Jarwin was NFL open but Prescott just couldn't pull the trigger. At some point, Prescott has to figure it out and come...

5 thoughts from Cowboys' season-opening loss at Carolina

This is a great post cmd and just another indictment of this coaching staff, the GM and the personnel people. But what shocks me is that after all these years and failed experiments that Jerry hasn't figured at least some of it out. A great coach can identify and develop talent; he has a plan...

Pretty ugly Cup. But no one should be surprised except for dbair. He really is/was a true believer.

Dupree, you seem like a good dude; a fine young man who's impressionable. Let me ask you a few questions. Do you live in Dallas? Do you have a clean criminal history? If so, can you buy a Mannlicher-Carcano rifle? What do you think of Jerry Jones?

Someone needed to take one for the team (literally) and cut the break line.

You haven't heard Yimmy? We're building some offices and shit. Some huge development in Frisco or something like that. We'll be the financial envy of the league. It's all good. Go Jerry!!!!

I know I'm being optimistic but this is the wrong year to pick at the top of the draft. This team needs a complete overhaul, from coaching staff to offense and even some parts on D. But none of that will matter without the most important position on the field being filled and they way it looks...

The bigger problem is the GM and HC who think we have enough talent at the position to compete. It's a complete shit show. I don't believe for a second that Witten retired because it was time. He saw this team for what it is and got out of dodge when the getting was good.

The slide began game one of last season, at least that's when I started to take notice. Or one could even argue it began during the playoffs when the offense looked putrid the first half. Completely inept.

It happened where? Only in Dallas. Prescott is what he is, unfortunately. He could give you a season or two, But if you think this kid is worth 100 (plus) million dollars, you're delusional.

That won't happen. We'll go 7 and 9 or 8 and 8. The money will keep flowing and that's all Jerry cares about and Garrett would have done his job to keep Jerry comfortable. We're the only ones getting wound up over this shit.

You idiots act like no QB has ever had a good season and didn't pan out. This is exactly who Dak is, unfortunately. He's a good kid and probably a good locker room guy. But he's just too inaccurate to be the man and consistently win at this level.

You can't coach accuracy. You can believe what you want. Red is a horrible coach but that doesn't excuse his lack of accuracy.
