No, man. With a 10-power scope even a rank amateur can hit a human from 200 yards. He just can't place the slug where he wants. That's what happened here. Have you spent any trigger time with a rifle and a scope?

Was that reported somewhere? Because judging by how dark the blood was, I suspect the jugular vein. Cartoid gonna be extremely oxygen rich and bright red. It's possible both were opened by the slug too.

We know this wasn't a high powered rifle because the sound of the report wasn't noticeably behind the slug. At 200 yards the sound would arrive noticably late, although not by much. A good hunting rifle or target shooting rifle did this job and without doubt, probably a 10-power scope. Dude...
