Today's Minute with an asshole.
It would have been funny if a Republican took the opportunity to disrupt this bozo's speech.
But a few things to point out.
First, Senator Grandstand, or Padilla, got the same treatment as any ordinary citizen would have gotten in the same circumstances. And no, being disrespectful and rude is not okay. If someone came to my house and behaved that way I would boot them out the door. And it is not American either. That is nonsense. Our government has, until recently always acted with due respect. Compare congress to British Parliament and see what I mean.
But more importantly to me, these elected officials who think they are in some way special, or above everyone else are the problem. Burning down cities is not okay but it was okay with our government in 2020. Then when J6 happened the overreaction by both sides of the government showed just how elitist these clowns have become. Capitol Hill is not Mt Olympus and congress people are not gods. protesting in congress is as American as apple pie. Burning cities and looting private businesses is not. Another reason for term limits is to prevent these assholes from thinking that their seats in congress are an entitlement.
Members of the house and senate do not have special privileges when it comes to behavior. We have allowed them to get away with so much that they think they have some special authority, but they do not. Padilla was treated the same way anyone else who stormed a press conference would be treated, and that is how it should be.
