I don't think McDermott is, or ever was "great"Arguably the BEST quarterback in the league just can't get over that hump. And therefore, a great HC was fired because of his costly mistakes!
Tomatoe, Tomato.... The man that was hired to lead the team in 2017, and immediately broke a 17-year playoff drought, is a great HC in my books. McDermott will forever have a place in Bills history. But breaking the drought was only the beginning for McDermott, forever etching himself in the franchise history books with his historic success. It wasn't McDermott who tossed Picks/fumbles in his tenure to avoid getting over that hump. It was his "franchise QB".I don't think McDermott is, or ever was "great"
He's been a good HC no doubt, but he also can't get their team over the hump and has been in place there since 2017 with a true franchise QB in place almost his entire stay. It doesn't help his cause when their main rival made it to the AFC Championship game in the new coach's 1st yr, after almost a complete rebuild.
