jerry is fully invested in playing the game behind the game, and he's winning

cowboys are worth the most money, he wins that title every year

these owners get in a room every year and show each other how much they made on concessions, merch sales, tickets, salary budgets of execs, coaches, and players, etc. they likely have a formula and analytics just like a QB rating and PFF on all of it.

they discuss this shit, along with networking with each other like politicians on their other dealings, and have a big ol circle jerk

if nothing else, these owners are pussies for not shit talking jerry hard enough. but a team is just part of a portfolio and owning one makes you a part of an exclusive club...

its sad that winning isnt the priority in northern texas anymore
if making the most money was the sole issue in Jerrys mind, winning would be the way to accomplish that and he knows it

He's leaving what most would consider a fortune on the table with his pathetic results because he wants to be front and center with no one else having the power to play with his toy. If a person was ever given the authority & responsibility of the GM position in Dallas and found success (ie won one or more Super Bowls), it would just magnify and further expose how putrid the GM has been at his job the last 3+ decades so he'll have none of that!

There's no doubt in my mind the Cowboys would be worth Billions more if they could have merely added 1 Super Bowl win in each of the last 3 decades. Hell, 3 super bowl loses over that period would likely move the needle as well but the buffoon in charge cant even get his team to a championship game and will likely never rise to this low bar before he's 6 feet under

excellent points and of course money isn't the only thing, but its the most important thing. and 30 years of increasing cowboys revenue and no hardware to show for it.... jerry knows he doesnt need to win championships, just win enough to stay relevant. he built a new stadium by selling hope, not championships

i dont think that jerry worries about getting embarassed, and i dont think being bested by another GM ever really crosses his mind because its not a part of his reality. no one will get the chance to be a GM from outside the organization. the next guy is stevie, and i don't see stevie appointing anybody until jerry's dead (it might even be litigated that way).

There's no question Jerry is motivated by money and basks in the fact that he has the most valuable sports franchise in the world.

That said, while Jerry the GM is an utter moron, Jerry the businessman is not. He KNOWS they'd make MORE money if they were in the running for championships and winning Lombardi's year after year. For people who are "all about the money" there is NEVER enough money, and you'd want to make as much as possible.

For him it's 100% about his stubborn ego. He wants to win, but ONLY if it's "his way". It's the only explanation for why things have been the way they were for 30 years. He's willing to sacrifice success if it's not the success that's driven by him. He doubles down on his FO stupidity every year.
