The Ravens were about as bad as us this yr but last yr they were top 10 in total defense and scoring defense, 1st in rush yds allowed and yds per carry and 2nd in sacks.
Still, this might be about a potential position coach spot (he's was a LB coach for several yrs before 2024)

He only left because he thought he was a shoo-in for the Bears or Aints jobs. He ended up getting neither and wasn't even close.
He also wanted a contract extension and the Cowboys wouldnt give him multiple yrs.

Maybe they were smarter than Fat Mike and knew he was overplaying his hand.
That said, it was supposedly Jerry that wanted him to stay and Spawn/McClay wanted to move on.

jerry is fully invested in playing the game behind the game, and he's winning
cowboys are worth the most money, he wins that title every year
these owners get in a room every year and show each other how much they made on concessions, merch sales, tickets, salary budgets of execs, coaches, and players, etc. they likely have a formula and analytics just like a QB rating and PFF on all of it.
they discuss this shit, along with networking with each other like politicians on their other dealings, and have a big ol circle jerk
if nothing else, these owners are pussies for not shit talking jerry hard enough. but a team is just part of a portfolio and owning one makes you a part of an exclusive club...
its sad that winning isnt the priority in northern texas anymore
