If a man intends to kill someone, he is unlikely to worry about a parking ticket. Like in the movie Jack Reacher, a sniper doesn't stop to put a quarter in a parking meter when he is about to kill 6 people. Gun laws only apply to those who obey laws in general. Murder is the worst crime one can commit so if you intend to murder you certainly will not worry about violating a gun law.

In the General Election, other Dems can simply run as "Independent" against the Dem candidate and the R candidate. Maybe with that split vote, a R can be Mayor of NYC again . . .

You can tell NYC is dying by the weakness of the field of candidates. Curtis Sliwa is the Republican nominee? Seriously? But NYC is going to elect a socialist because this time they know they will get socialism right, no matter how many times it has failed in the past.
I haven't been in the city since I retired. I have no reason to travel there anymore and no desire to. They are hostile to out of state visitors there, everything is ultra expensive, and the city which was once recovering under Mayor Giuliani is slowly reverting back to what it was in the 1970s. A Mayor Mamdani will finish the job.
I really don't care. It needs to die.

Why is everybody saying this guy is the slam dunk mayor? is there no chance the Republican or independent candidate can beat him?
I guess the thinking is with the current mayor running as an independent and a republican running that’s gonna split the vote so that this guy ends up becoming mayor?

Let's face it....NY is toast. What needs to happen are businesses need to start leaving and let NY die the (financial) death it deserves. I know Texas was trying to court the financial district and if these businesses start leaving, that will be the start of the mass exodus. It can't happen soon enough.

Unfortunately, we're close enough to feel the effects of their bad decisions. There's going to be some kind of exodus of NY'ers bringing their shitty voting records into NJ and overall, the influence is going to spread.
We're witnessing the dismantling of major US cities and it is going to have an impact on our country at large.
