So why would it be a good to give up on guys after only a year?
That wasn't my argument.

But... A turd is a turd and it doesn't take more than a year to identify a turd.

Turds though are cheap. But they take roster spots away from real players. The problem WE have is, if a turd has an appealing social justice type story, Jerruh keeps them around.

Dlaw is an expensive turd. Did only just enough for our FO to give him a big contract. You won't see shit out of him now.

Right but that’s what you responded to. That’s the conversation I was having with the other guy before you put your 2 cents in. He was saying that the Connors are busts already. My point was that it’s too early to give up on them because sometimes it takes a couple of years for guys to develop. McGovern hasn’t even played yet and this would be the make or break season for Connor Williams (in my opinion).

And DLaw wasn’t a turd when he was putting up 10+ sacks in back to back seasons. He was fairly cheap actually. The Cowboys front office are the turds for paying him that much money.

Edit: bbgun was talking about Tristan Hill and McGovern originally, not Connor Williams.

Wrong. I replied ONLY to your comment about DLaw. Totally separate from the other convo you were having with the other guy.

When he was putting forth the effort to go git dat money. Instead of doing it from Day One and continuing to do it after he got dat money.

Glad you understand. He IS a turd and we shouldn't pay turds. We should trade turds. Let some other team give him the big bucks. Set a fucking standard - "If you want a big contract from us, show us you want to be here and perform at a high level from the Jump. Not just in your contract year."

Right but I was in the middle of that conversation. So that’s what I was responding to. I wasn’t even talking about anything that occurred after he put up back to back 10+ sack seasons. I was strictly referring to the first 3-5 years of his rookie contract.

I do agree that they probably shouldn’t have paid DLaw that much considering that both of his 10+ sack seasons came in contract years. They should have traded him. I’m not arguing that. I’m just saying that you can’t give up on a player after 1 year. Players need time to develop, some take longer than others.

Using Dlaw as your example and really it's a poor example. He was a early 2nd round pick we traded up to get. So of course you give him some time to see that investment hopefully grow. Nobody was saying otherwise.

Hill is a late 2nd rounder we have no trade equity in. If he is a turd then yeah it's perfectly fine to ditch him and call him a bust. Wouldn't do it after only one year though, I agree.

When was that exactly, when he showed something?

Stupid fucking post Dooms.

He was pretty much injured two of his first three years. His 2nd yr once he got healthy he had 7 sacks in the last 8 games.

Then he played two seasons (which were statistically his best) with a torn labrum that he put off surgery for.

Of course. Then suddenly when it was time to "step up" and git dat money suddenly injuries are no problem.

Then got dat money and hasn't done shit, yeah, "injuries" return. Nice timing.

He should be criticized for putting off the major shoulder surgery he had last yr as long as he did, absolutely fair.

That said, he played all year on a shoulder injury that went through major reconstruction, there's no way he was healthy enough to be the fairly impactful player he was the prior two years. It had nothing to do with getting paid and not giving effort. Dude wasn't out there just going through the motions.

Just running his mouth talking about how it was time for him to "step up" 12 games into the season. Which of course never happened.

JFC dude giving up on guys after 1 yr and 2 yrs? This sounds like lame ****** Zoner thinking to me. Hell one guy didn't even play a single preseason snap and you are writing him off.

Stupid post.

Have the decency to leave JFC out of it.

If you think Williams will ever be a dominant NFL OG you've lost it, but maybe they'll try him at OT

as for McGovern, I'm hoping this once 3rd team all big 10 guy can play in the NFL, so far ... no reason to belive he can

Where did I claim Williams would ever be dominant?

I really hate fucktards that just blatantly make shit up and throw it out there to support a dumbass agenda.

where did I say we should give up on them?

my point was quite clear - the last 2 high picks spent on OL have not panned out to date
that's not an agenda, just facts

I have no problem with them drafting OL, but if you really think the Boys' FO is packed with OL geniuses you've missed the last few seasons
