If Jerry forces staff on them it doesn't matter. On the poll I think Meyer probably gets to name his own staff. Not sure about Riley.

If Moore, Richard or Marinelli are on the new guy's staff, you'll know it was Jerry's idea.

I honestly don't care at this point and I can't say I'm really in tune with the college game. I know what I want in a HC and he's got to be a leader, a teacher and understands one side if the ball. No one respects Garrett and anything the guy says has to ring hollow for anyone that has had to earn their keep during their football career.

This looks like it's one of those desperation periods like when Jerry hired BP and there are a lot of questions with this team. I don't give a shit what you fools say, this team needs a complete overhaul.

I voted for Meyer. I honestly have no idea if he could morph his ultra hands on approach to the NFL or not.
I like Riley as well, but don't see him leaving OU. However, money talks and the idea of being this generation's Jimmy Johnson, by which I mean restore the franchise might entice him.
In the interest of full disclosure, I would vote for one of them inflatable punchable clowns over Garrett.

My number 1 pick would be Urban. If it isn't Urban, I would totally settle for Ken Norton or Dan Campbell.

agreed and on that note, I feel like the best candidate might be someone none of us have heard of but perhaps has a lot of years in the league, tons of experience & respect among other NFL coaches.

If that person exists, I don't know how to find him and sadly I have no confidence the Dallas gm can either and if he did find that guy, he now has to try and mitigate the obstacle jeri and the organization is to winning

Why? Part of the reason the Cowboys suck right now is the lack of RPOs. And yes Meyer would likely bring RPOs.

I've seen plenty of RPO recently. That's when Zeke gets stuffed. Anytime they do that stupid garbage from shotgun it ends in disaster.

what youve watched in dallas is a virgin OC w/ lots of fancy ideas getting his chance to practice and learn on the job, just like his boss, clappy mcgee, an acolyte of air coryell, who also doesnt know wtf hes looking at on game day

I don't see how any new coach would want Richard or Marinelli (or any other defensive asst) after the way they have played this year, and considering the lack of negative plays overall for basically the last 7-8 seasons.

I could see some coaches perhaps interested in retaining Kellen Moore. If they hire Riley then Riley would obviously be calling plays and Moore would be an OC in name only. Meyer might want Moore to stick around too.

And I don't give a shit about the above, because any fool can look at this and see the coaching is horrendous.

There's too much talent here to be 6-7. Everybody that covers the sport agrees, and most of those people arnt just dumbass beat writers.

There are clearly some areas that need to be addressed, but I think with the talent here already and the way this season played out there's no excuse not to be at least 9-4 or 10-3 right now. And most of the people in the football world seem to agree with that.

Chris Petersen would likely keep Moore too. One of the reasons I don't want him.

Ken Norton or Dan Campbell? Why?

Campbell at least got some positive reviews as an interim coach and has spent the last few seasons with Sean Payton, but Ken Norton? What the heck has he done other than be fired once or twice?

Ken Norton right now is the DC of the 10-2 Seahawks. Obviously, he isn't the sole reason for the Seahawks success, but he is also someone that due to his former-Cowboyness is a realistic hire.

As for Campbell, not only is he a realistic hire, but he also would likely fix the disciplinary and coaching problems that have become the norm under Garrett. That is what Campbell what did in Miami and why I prefer him to Norton.

Dont want either, but especially don't want Norton. Norton is running Carroll's defense exactly the way Carroll wants, when he was in Oakland running the defense he was fucking awful. And just for the record, Seattle's defense is garbage dude. They're 10-2 because Russell Wilson is playing absolutely out of his mind, not because of anything the defense has done.

Riley's an intriguing option, but the likelihood of him actually doing it is very slim.

I'd be a lot more interested in Urban, except you've gotta wonder about health issues causing him to cut out early like his last two jobs.

McDaniels has been mentioned, but he didn't work in Denver and bailed on Indy before they even handed him the pen to sign.

I would rather get a Joe Theismann tattoo than to ever give Garrett anything except scorn and ridicule.

What's that leave? A whole mess of questions, I know. I'd consider Jim Harbaugh, but no chance in hell he and Jerry could co-exist. The one that's giving me the most pause to consider would probably be Eric Bieniemy. I'd rather have someone with experience, but I can't see anyone in that category being interested and/or worth it.

It's not mutually exclusive. I can say definitively that Garrett's a bad coach based on his game day/in game decision and clock management that that have been atrocious. And they've been that way for years and these were mistakes that a high school coach wouldn't make. I'm sure you agree with my point.

But this abstract idea that we're so talented is just a fan talking point, hyped up and propagated by Jerry and picked up by the media. You can't coach up Jaylon Smith. The guy is physically limited and the worst player on the field. It's sad and embarrassing tying to watch him run. I'm not trying to be critical of the man because he's overcome a serious knee injury. But he's not physically fit to play football. It's painfully obvious; great feel good story but bad football signing. Sean Lee is a shell of his former self. A guy that used to be the heart of the D, when healthy, and now he's just not quick enough to play the position. Is DLaw a franchise DL? Trrone? Armstrong? Crawford? Jones is not a shut down corner but will probably get paid in the open market. Do his 2 INT's in 5 years scream talent to you? And Jeff Heath? I rest my case.

And let's call the most important position exactly what it is. Questionable. Dak is going to get franchised but a new HC won't put his rep on Dak Prescott. If Jerry was sold on Dak, he'd be signed by now.

And what WR can carry the load? Cooper but Dak's not consistent enough to make Cooper a consistent game changer and threat. I mean, they had an UFA on Cooper last night if I'm not mistaken.

Way, way too many question marks about the talent on this team. We certainly have no depth although Troy said that we did last night. It's part of the talking points.
