Again, that's an utter b/s take dude. it's called "negotiating" Your saying the only offer that would have been legit is one he would have signed, what if he wants to be the highest paid defensive player in the league? What if he is asking for a deal that totally resets the entire market?

They tried to pay Lawrence, he didn't like the first deal they offered.

As for Jones, they don't need to franchise him now. He has 1 more yr.

For some reason I was thinking he was a free agent this off season. Cooper has 1 more year too. So if they do not resign Cooper, or Dak this off season they go into next off season with all 3 of those guys being UFA.

i am on board with the whole being frugal and building through the draft strategy , yada yada yada ..

but .....with no 1st round pick and only 6 picks in the entire draft, they need to do something more than go dumpster diving right ? this team still needs great players to "beat the man across from you", yes ? these rookies going to do that or... ?

the answer to all of the above: nope, not anymore, hopefully SOMEONE can step it up but realistically theyre not all gonna KILL it in the 1st year but they should catch on quickly because of JASON GARRETTs consistent process to achieving excellence AND participation trophies ... maybe we should point the finger at owner JERRY JONES

Fuck, fuck, fuck fuck...
What the hell is this FO doing with the cap space?
So let me get this straight...we franchise tag DLaw to the tune of $20M which we can't use on anyone else...Jerry, that asstard, talks about upgrading the S position and...(crickets though that Addae kid that the Chargers released I would be ok with though I still say we could have been creative for ET) and then resign a fucken' FB who can't catch a fluff pass to a 3yr contract!!!!!!!
And to boot, if they are saving this money to pay Dak $27M-$30M we are, in the words of Dave Chappelle from Con Air, WE FUCKED!!!!
I understand frugality and do appreciate the approach based on what has happened in the past with the cap but goddamn we can't just stay pat and not infuse this roster with more talent!!!
The Egirls were $2M OVER the cap and are making moves that are smart (Malik Jackson, DJax) and manage to find the cap space to be at least in the game.

ok spending money on people that dallas doesnt even use on gameday

bold strategy, lets see how it plays out

You can't teach just anybody to stand on the sideline and be invisible, especially when there's people with an obvious talent for it..

Oh, we're screwed this offseason. Tank is eating up a ton of cap space and he isn't showing up until week 11 if at all. Then as usual Dallas will do next to nothing during FA and use that available money to give their average QB a huge extension.

To make matters worse, Dallas is competing against themselves for Dak. How many teams need a starting QB? The list is very small. Even less by next season after the 2019 draft. They should let him play out this season and then transition tag him next season. There will only be a couple teams in the market, we'll really see what he's worth. I have an odd feeling it will be nowhere near 30M.
