Absolutely. I haven't seen them all, but it's really fucking hard to imagine there has been a shittier set of choices than what we have now.

A con artist or a criminal. If both of them could hurry up and die a miserable death, then maybe we'd have something worth showing up at the polls for.

He had to explain things that aren't really major issues. She was asked nothing about Libya and only minimal questions on her e-mails. It was telling that the guy who was a private citizen had to go on the defense while the politician under investigation and who has repeatedly lied to the public was getting soft tosses.

I haven't watched the debate but I recorded it to watch later. Still, a lot of the polls I've seen have Trump as "winning" the debate. Some by a 69%31% landslide (drudge report). Closest was 52-48, by Time.

He already addressed the birther nonsense a couple weeks ago, he should have just repeated what he said then.

I thought he got too defensive on the income tax stuff but I do like that he got in the barb about releasing his income taxes when she releases the emails.

With all the stuff going on in the US and all over the world, somebody's stance on this birther stuff and whether someone releases his income taxes (after filling out a 100+ page financial disclosure already) don't seem like "issues" we need to be hearing about in the first Presidential debate to me. I don't remember the total amount of time they spent on these two things but 10 seconds would have been too long.

Like I said, Lester Holt did a good job with his marching orders from HRC campaign.

Trump was awful. Did he even prep for this thing? Didn't seem like it. She was there for the taking and he kept getting caught up in defending his taxes and other stupid personal stuff. He better learn to stay focused and stay on message next time.

You might want to go back and look at who brought that up to begin with.

Also the of the night was Holt saying neither candidate had any idea what the questions were going to be. Absolutely 100% no doubt in my mind he shared his questions with Clinton prior to, who was in full on robot mode with most of her answers and clearly had rehearsed some of those verbatim over and over.

That's because Hillary is such a flawed candidate, not because Trump "won" the debate. The issue I have is that Trump could have put this thing to bed with a good debate and it just didn't appear to me that he was prepared. He missed a lot of golden opportunities and I'm hoping he rebounds on the next debate and goes on the attack on Hillary's policies and the issues.

Johnson/Weld are intriguing and the best candidates imo but America refuses to give a third party a chance and will elect one of the two bozos while bitching the whole way

I'd hoped he could better articulate himself on matters of national security, etc, but his repetitious 'Call Sean Hannity' response was awful. He shouldn't have wasted time defending his Iraq stance and just answered the question. He was basically sand-bagged by more sophisticated liars and it exposed his flaws.

Hilary only needed to coast on the typical Left/Right talking points to seem more 'Presidential' as it's laughably called. She is a combination/culmination of years of behavioral psychology studies, presented as a viable choice, based on the findings of that study. Whatever Trump might say that is true, it's lost in the necessity of mans need for slick packaging. Even if he truly speaks for a majority of American voters, she's light years ahead in presenting herself to a willing audience.

None of this is to compliment her, just an objective deduction of available info. Donald has his work cut out for him in the next debates.

I thought Trump was better in the first 30 minutes, then Hillary got the best of him later on in the debate. Agree with what much of you have said, he got tripped up in meaningless stuff with Iraq and Rosie O'Donnell, and talking about preparing for the debate, etc.

But early on in the debate you could just feel the controlling personality he is. Not that it's good for being president, but it plays well for an audience who wants to be led to water and made to drink it.

It does matter because they are setting the agenda for the debates. This is why I don't like having moderators at all unless they can find truly impartial people to handle that job.

And when Trump addressed it, Holt continued to badger him for more response.

The fact he went after Trump on this nonsense and totally disregarded any of the Clinton Corruption (which are LEGIT concerns and issues) shows what a fucking hack he is.
