That's right. They went from what they really are, a mediocre team, with a few breaks and a run-heavy philosophy based on Romo's back, to winning just four more games.
Every perennial 8-8 type team can go 12-4. Hell, the 9-7 Giants can win a Super Bowl, beating the 13-3 Cowboys in the playoffs on their way to beating the undefeated Patriots for the Lombardi.
You don't understand that mediocrity is the norm in this league. And pretty much any of these mediocre teams can have a charmed year. Ours was last year.
We did get lucky that Jerry unplugged Garrett's headphone mic, though.
Hey Cowboys were the better team against the Lions and any other coach from Pop Warner to a decaying Tom Landry would have not allowed that game to be that close, but the Hitchens call was waaaaaaay lucky and the game was not moving in Dallas's favor without it.Uh huh
Dude, this we got lucky crap is fucking lame.
I know its amazing because most of us didn't see it coming, but they were 12-4 and won a playoff game last yr because they had a good team. Not because they were lucky or caught every break imaginable.
Breaks I think we caught was basicaly zero injuries all year, except for losing Claiborne which made us better. Lost Lee first day of TC giving team all preseason to adjust.
That and a ridiculous one in a million catch on third and 20 after a super human spin/throw by Romo vs Seattle that, had we not converted, we lose. A ridiculous catch by Dez on third and long in overtime vs Texans. And a Rams TE dropping a sure TD in the end zone that likely would've put the game out of reach. Finally, refs saving our ass vs Detroit on an obvious PI. We were very lucky last year. Don't get me wrong, we were a good team, but very lucky.

Oh yeah, they were 10-6 that year. The 10-6 Giants beat the 13-3 Cowboys.Just fyi, the 9-7 Giants didn't beat the 13-3 Cowboys
See, unlike you I am that guy at Shawshank prison in solitary for 20 fucking years since SB 30, who when that door would open early on and the light would stab in, thought something good was happening. It took 20 years for me to learn that when that door opens wide and the light stabs in with a 13-3 or a 12-4 finish, it fucking still slams fucking shut.Yeah, very lucky
Good grief
No, fuckhead. I have always said that if they can put together two better years, I would start to re-evaluate. Problem is they haven't done that in what, 20 years? But hey, you can always crow about how "its just two fluke years homers!!!!" after the season.
A inconvenient truth the homers love to forget. Also, even if they count the Dez catch, we still need to score. And there was plenty of time for Rodgers and Adams to run through our defense like a hot knife through butter.
This years roster doesn't look very mediocre, its by far the best its been in a LONG time. Barring major injury, the results this yr wont be much different than last yr.

"Luck" certainly plays a part in any season and sometimes games are won or lost by a bad call/non-call, incredible catch, etc. Maybe we even confuse luck with "good fortune" but in any event, we can go through the season and point to plays and events that played a part. The incredible Williams catch against Seattle. The Hitchens non-call against Detroit. The Dez catch being overturned. Murray's untimely fumble against GB. Romo, Murray and Dez staying healthy throughout the season. Heck, we were fairly healthy all year as a team.
Things went right for us last year. There's nothing wrong with admitting that. Even good teams need things to right for them on any SB run (tuck rule, Eli's pass that was caught off the TE's helmet, last year's goal line INT in the SB, Ben's endzone pass and incredible catch in the SB), overturning Witten's 1st down against Seattle in the playoffs, Terry Glen fumbling out of the endzone in that same game, Irvin and Harper switching positions prior to "the slant" against SF........I mean, we can go on and on.
Exactly. It's insane to suggest that luck doesn't exist. In the long term, yes, theoretically it all evens out. But in the short term, it plays a huge factor when you're talking about a league of parity like this one where one bounce of the ball can make the difference in winning or losing a game.
Not to beat a dead horse, but there are dark days ahead with Romo being in the latter part of his career. I just don't yet trust this front office and coaching staff to find and develop the next franchise QB.
