Yay. We are a well ran organization. Paying $9 M to non-franchise caliber players only to let him be a free agent again next season.

Smart, smart move.

Why did I waste my time going to college? I should have set my sights on becoming a mediocre pro football player.

Nothing to keep them from signing him long term (which would b dumb IMO)

Dumbest move would have been to let him walk (and he would have had a good deal of interest had he hit the market) without a legit replacement in place.

Doesnt surprise me you dont get that though.

No I think it's amazingly smart to invest $9 million in a slightly above average player who can walk next year.

Also while unlikely, he had to sign his 1yr franchsie deal for us to trade him.

Longshot, but if they ended up with a guy they firmly believed could start ahead of him, Spencer could be moved this week/end and we'd probably get a middle round pick or so in return from someone. Cant remember for sure but it might have been Don Banks who has been saying this for a month or so now.

Defense is going to suck with or without him.

I hope he invests every penny into something that fails right away.

I just can't believe we're paying someone very well (let alone paying someone the minimum) who has admitted to taking plays off. What kind of example does that set?

The cowboys don't plan on signing spencer to long term deal. Will let him play for 8.8m. But they need to find his replacement for 2013
