I don't trust Mercilus for some reason. Mark Barron is Kiper's #1 Safety but I'm not a fan. I'd rather take Nebraska linebacker Lavonte David and make him a Strong Safety, like we did with Darren Woodson.

USC's Nick Perry is going to rise up the boards. He's best as a 4-3 right end but USC drops their DE's into coverage so there is tape on him for 3-4 teams. He's a natural speed rusher but he isn't afraid to mix it up and fight interior OL. When USC had Everson Griffin, they would line up Perry at DT on passing downs.

Anyways, your biggest knock, and a lot of your guys' biggest knock, on Barron was that he was a one-dimensional safety, and clearly he is not.

Yep. He was a freshman starter in the SEC and all-SEC as a soph, with the SEC being the premire defensive conference in the league and having seen Jackson make impact plays, I felt that was a good measuring stick to judge his talent. As any Tennessee fan will tell you, he's a knucklehead. My hope was that with his Dad pulling him home and spending a year at McNeese State, that his talent would overcome his knuckleheadedness.
