Payton might be the only person available right now who could save things by working with Jerry and still having enough authority to change the culture here. Fisher would have been another.

Either way, ginger is def not that person. It truly is a country club.

Dcfanatic has a long recording of it on his site, but Crayton was on local radio the other day and confirmed that Payton is a badass like Parcells. Said he steps up the first day and lets you know he's running the show and that if you don't perform you will be held accountable.

Also talked about how he liked the way Bill got to know them as people, not just as players. Said Garrett doesn't do that - he's very impersonal and doesn't relate well to people.

That really explains what Garrett is missing as a head coach, along with poor playcalling and clock management.

If I wanted a good unbiased opinion on Bill vs. Garrett I certainly wouldn't start with Crayton, fwiw.

Speaking of curious calls, what about the second to last play in regulation? We were out of timeouts, right? What if Tony had been sacked on that play? We wouldn't have had enough time to get the FG unit on the field, correct? It made no sense to drop back for a pass at that point.

I'm fine with it as long as romo knows to chuck it. The way they literally bracketed dez in the endzone and romo still had nothing was disconcerting

But he had already been sacked six times prior to that play. He easily could have been sacked from behind before getting the pass off. We got lucky.

Well he got sacked on what, 1 out of every 7 drop backs? 14% of the time. But with the situation that numbers lowered because romo won't TAKE a sack like he wisely does all game

Bailey is 90% from that spot on the field . Then we have a 50/50 shot In overtime. Fine gamble given the circumstances

The logical thing would be to kick the FG on third down and not take the risk of a sack, which was a very real possibility behind that atrocious line.

I dont know about this, it appears from most shots on the sideline that Garrett gets along extremely well with the players.

And who cares how his interpersonal skills are with the players. Getting too cozy with players leads to bad decisions (something Parcells did way too much of, bringing in his washed up rejects from elsewhere, hanging onto to washed up rejects too long, drafting guys because they like Italian food etc etc)

We were, but Romo is a seasoned vet and knew the situation. There was no way he was gonna take a sack there.

Had he been a rookie or an inexperienced guy, they probably go ahead with the FG.

The really BAD part there was taking a freaking delay of game the play before. Inexcusable in that situation.

Except that we had Parnell at LT, a guard at center, a fossil at RG, and a human turnstile at RT. Hardly ordinary circumstances.
