Guess we want to make sure Hardy and McClain have some friends:

David Irving | Defensive Lineman
Team: Iowa State Cyclones
Age / DOB: (21) / 8/18/1993
Ht / Wt: 6'7' / 272

Iowa State dismissed senior DL David Irving worked out for the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks. The ex-Iowa State prospect was dismissed from the program and did not play in 2014, as he was charged with fifth-degree theft, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief in connection with a student riot back in April. In 2013, Irving was also arrested on a domestic assault charge against his girlfriend.
It will be interesting to see which team, if any, rolls the dice in the draft on Irving. Brandt notes that Irving "had a good workout, went through some bag drills, and is a potential sleeper prospect in the 2015 NFL Draft." Mar 24 - 2:59 PM

Absolutely, dbair, that's for sure.

Nearly everyone agrees that Gurley will be a successful NFL back and likely a very successful NFL RB assuming he avoids serious injury.

The question being asked here is whether Gurley is truly on the same level as guys like Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, L.T., and A.P. That's a higher bar. Sounds like you think he clears it. I'm more skeptical.

Not sure he is at Bo Jackson or AP type level, but if it weren't for ACL I think he'd definitely be a top-10 pick

Mid we need mean players. Best place to find them is from police reports or local jails.

Crazy players are ok. Like Charles Haley and even Alonzo Spellman. Assuming they can play.

Thugs and criminals are for shit.

What next? We gonna sign Tank and Pac Man.

Looks like Eric Dickerson if he'd ran behind a zone blocking scheme. What a nifty back. Excellent ball security too.

Havent seen this kid talked about a lot. If we end up passing on McClain and need a MLB, he'd be a nice pick in 2nd rd I think.

Could see why Marinelli might like this kid at CB in our defense.

McClay, Colombo and Eberflus at TCU pro day. Eberflus there to work out LB Paul Dawson per tweets. I know he ran slow at the combine, but he was a fantastic player for TCU past two seasons and very productive.

Paul Dawson

Strengths Weaknesses
STRENGTHS: Possesses great agility for the position, showing quickness, balance and flexibility to avoid blockers and handle coverage responsibilities. Doesn't possess the preferred height for the position but sports a compact, well-proportioned frame and long arms. Quickly locates the football and shows terrific speed and effort in pursuit. Isn't afraid to attack gaps when he sees opportunities to make a play behind the line of scrimmage. Scrapes the corner and closes in a flash. Fluidity when changing directions and acceleration are also clear in coverage, where Dawson shows good awareness and ball-skills. Tackles low, wrapping ball-carriers securely.
WEAKNESSES: Relies on his agility rather than mass or strength to take on and shed blocks in the hole. Rarely extends his arms to keep blockers away, instead dancing laterally to slip by. In doing so, Dawson takes risky angles, at times, leaving cutback opportunities and the defense vulnerable. Surrounded by awful lot of speed at TCU and played in a relatively simple see-the-ball, get-the-ball scheme. Comes with typical JUCO questions about his maturity and ability to handle a complicated playbook.

COMPARES TO: Lavonte David, Buccaneers -- Like the 6-1, 233 pound David, Dawson has the agility and instincts to star if protected up front by a stout defensive line and allowed to roam free. Today's pass-happy offenses make size less of a detriment at linebacker than it once but schematic limitations could push Dawson into the second round, just as it David.

--Rob Rang

Player Overview
TCU head coach Gary Patterson is often credited with finding and developing diamond in the rough types. Dawson, a high school wide receiver who went the JUCO route before emerging as an All-American outside linebacker, is Patterson's latest star pupil.
Despite only starting the final seven games in 2013, Dawson led the Horned Frogs in tackles as a junior with 91 stops, including 10 for loss. That was just a warm-up for his senior campaign, when Dawson recorded an astounding 128 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and four interceptions - and that was before TCU's white-washing of Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.

TCU's beloved 4-2-5 scheme puts Dawson in position to pad his statistics. His instinct and agility project very well to a more traditional 4-3 alignment, especially at weakside linebacker. If he performs well in the workouts and interviews at the Combine, Dawson could earn top 50 consideration.

But didn't Dawson do terrible at the combine? He's interesting because he might be one of those playmakers who plays above his measurables, or he could be one of those who can't play at the next level because he isn't a good enough athlete.

I don't have any one individual player who I absolutely want in this draft, like I did with say Roy Williams, Stephen Jackson, Marcus Spears, or Robert Meachum....

But I do hope we end up with one or two of the following:

Mario Edwards Jr
Preston smith
Michael kendrycks
Kevin Johnson
Jay Ajayi
Todd gurley
