You're only embarrassing yourself with your ignorance of the situation.

I've shared a board with most of these guys for nearly 10 years now. They know what I said months before Newman was selected.

Sugsy Wugsy.

I remember it well. You were pro Suggs over Newman long before the two were drafted.

SBK has a great point about signing Free to a large contract. I like Free as a stop-gap at LT but he isn't going to be my franchise LT and should not be paid as such. Listing a bunch of "non-elite" LTs that won the Super Bowl is an argument for this position and not against it. Over paying a player because he is the best you currently have is a bad management decision, but the one the Cowboys will probably make.

Anyone who pays attention can see the 26 year old LT/RT who grades out as the best run clocking tackle in the league is a problem.

I do not have opinions for shock value. That's a homer copout. Can't accept the opinion, pretend he's just making it up to stir the pot.

Uh, no. It hasn't been true even once.

Back in the early 90s, I was an optimistic fan.

The last decade and a half, I've been pessimistic.

The results on the field effect my take and mood on the team.

Funny how that works.

Now explain to me why anyone should be taken seriously if they've been beaming with optimism during the Cowboys' worst era in their history? Seems to me that guy is an irrational fan not interested in real debate on the team. They're here to cheerlead. Nothing more.

And you can bet that when the Cowboys finally do win something again, that fan will announce how right he was. Conveniently forgetting the other two decades where he was wrong. Year after year.

Wow, talk about one of the biggest sack of shit posts ever

All true "fans" of any team should be optimistic before a season starts. You can be both realistic and optimistic. Pissing and moaning over everything doesnt make you a better fan, I dont know where anyone would get a moronic idea like that.

Why can't Free be your franchise LT?

because at this point we still don't know a lot about Free. We have seen him play one season with a crap line, backup QB and constant chipping help. The Cowboys would've been smart to sign him to an extension before he got too good instead of letting this play out where he will expect to get paid more than he is currently worth.

How do you know he would be "overpaid"

Best run blocking tackle in the league? Care to provide some data or is that just your unqualified opinion?

Actually we've seen him start for over a year and a half now, and perform quite well. Statistically he graded out at the top of his position last yr, his first fll year as a starter.

And if they would have signed him to an extension in say, the offseason before the 2009 regular season, I'm quite sure you and others would have bashed the move, saying it was stupid to sign an unproven backup to an extension.

The stats on how Free graded out have been posted here before, I posted a bunch of stuff once not that long ago.

Actually we saw him at RT in 2009, not LT, and he was average at best in that performance and worse than Colombo. As for the extension, if we signed him before the 2009 regular season it probably would've been for a reasonable price because he was still a backup. Your logic in thinking I would've bashed the move is beyond absurd.

Right, pro football focus came up with some silly metric for grading tackles that didn't account for all the help Free was given. They also graded Free as the 4th best FA OT.

hurr durr got some stats to back up how much help Free was getting?

You can watch the games and see all the chips. You can't watch the games and see how he graded against all the other OTs in the league.

Why are there so many idiots on this forum? Can't you go back to the zone? Take bob with you.
