Didn’t know China had banned Rubio, makes me like him even more when I found out why:

As of May 2026, China previously sanctioned (and effectively banned) Marco Rubio, now the U.S. Secretary of State, in 2020 due to his staunch criticism of Beijing's human rights record, specifically his advocacy for sanctions targeting China's treatment of the Uyghur minority in Xinjiang and actions in Hong Kong. [1, 2]
Key Details Regarding the Ban and Status:
  • Initial Sanctions (2020): Beijing targeted Rubio, then a U.S. Senator, over his outspoken criticism of the Chinese Communist Party's policies and his support for legislation aimed at human rights violations.
  • Reasoning: The bans were in retaliation for U.S. sanctions against Chinese officials and for his role in highlighting human rights abuses.
  • 2026 Workaround: Despite these standing sanctions, Rubio is visiting China in May 2026 with President Trump. Diplomatic reports indicate Beijing bypassed its own ban by altering the Chinese character transliteration of Rubio's surname, a, "linguistic workaround" to allow his entry for a summit.
  • Previous Stance: As a Senator, Rubio was considered one of Washington’s strongest critics of Beijing, viewing China as an "unprecedented adversary"

Rubio is a true statesman who's polished.

It can't be said any better. We took our eyes off the ball and are just as feckless as ever in the last 47 years.
I still think you are failing to acknowledge the real culprit here was the Kurds.

The Trump Administration and Israel clearly had a plan in place to remove the Iranian government and had the Kurds done what they had promised this probably would have been over a few weeks after it started. But they didnt, they kept all the weapons they were given for themselves.

As much as I am sure Trump and his people would love to send in ground troops to wipe the Iranian mullahs off the map they know its political suicide and even worse it will also potentially cost us 1000's of military lives. They wanted the Iranian people to take the country back, not have to use our people for that.

It sucks, but this has the looks of another CIA failure (pretty sure it was reported they were the ones who were negotiating this with the Kurds). And when it comes to the CIA and deep staters, one almost has to wonder if this were botched on purpose.
