Jackson is licking his chops. Go ahead Eagles. Play hardball with your own drafted players while playing Santa Clause with free agents.

Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a six-year contract and a league source told ESPN's Andrew Brandt the deal is worth $100 million.

The Eagles made the announcement Monday night.

A league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that Vick's deal contains roughly $40 million guaranteed.

The Eagles designated Vick with their franchise player tag before the lockout and had until Sept. 20 to sign him to a multiyear contract.

Under the franchise tender, Vick was set to earn about $16 million this year. He once had a $130 million deal with the Atlanta Falcons that was the NFL's richest before losing two seasons of his career while incarcerated for 18 months in a federal prison for dogfighting.

Vick then rejuvenated his career with the Eagles, started in the Pro Bowl last year and finished runner-up to Tom Brady for NFL MVP. In the September issue of GQ, Vick says that he consulted with commissioner Roger Goodell before signing with Philadelphia.

"I think I can say this now, because it's not going to hurt anybody's feelings, and it's the truth," Vick says. "I didn't want to come to Philadelphia. Being the third-team quarterback is nothing to smile about. Cincinnati and Buffalo were better options."

Vick
The article states: "After meeting with Commissioner Roger Goodell and other reps from the NFL, Vick was convinced -- and granted league approval -- to sign with Philly."

Vick is then quoted saying: "And I commend and thank them, because they put me in the right situation."

Vick played sparingly in 2009 behind Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb. McNabb was traded to Washington in April 2010, and Vick eventually replaced Kolb after he was injured in the season opener last year. Vick had the best all-around season of his career, led the Eagles to the NFC East title and was The Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year.

He's got the ability to fund an illegal operation again.

He should consider cock fighting. Nobody gives a shit about roosters.

The Eagles are spending and it might come back to bite them, but their fans (miserable bastards that they are) have to be feeling pretty good right now knowing that their front office is making every effort to get to the Superbowl. They could very well end up just as disappointed as the 29 other teams who don't make the Superbowl but they defintely went for it.

Are they going to change Vick's style? Because since they now have all this money invested in him, you would think they would want to protect it. His style of play eventually leads to his injuries, but yet they cannot afford to have Vick change his style beign that their wins were predicated upon it.

Good for him.

Hopefully he is wiser this time and doesn't believe the world revolves around him.

Awesome, now that he has his money again and he has been making excuses for himself like blaming white people for what he did........it's now time for him to start keeping it real again...

Won't be long before he is spreading herpes, smuggling weed throug the airport and back involved with his gangster buddies.

Can't wait to watch him fail...

How is failing to address protecting your franchise QB's blind side going for it?

How is starting the season with a 4th round undersized middle LB LB going for it?

They have as many or more question marks on there Oline than we do and there safety situation is just as shaky, if this was Dallas everybody would be bashing Jerry for spending money in the wrong places.

They signed Ryan Harris to play right tackle and he got hurt.

The LB thing is an issue and some think they might sign Lofa Tatupu. Still, they have to run out of cap room eventually. They have at least attempted to address the S issue with 2010 2nd round pick Nate Allen and 2011 2nd round pick Jaiquawn Jarrett.

Hate the Eagles, probably as much as I hate the Redskins, but you can't seriously say they haven't done more to address their needs and upgrade their roster than we have. It may not end up working out but they definitely went for it.

I'm not impressed with what the Eagles have done.

All they've done is set themselves up to fail. They've set Super Bowl or Bust standards, and they're not going to be able to live up the hype.

Watch the Eagles lose week 1 to St. Louis.

I'm mad that they signed Cullen Jenkins, but the rest of their moves screams fulfilling their cap obligations.

Yeah signing a guy with back issues is really addressing the position.

Letting your best safety go and relying on a second year guy coming off knee surgery and a rookie is really going for it.

Philly will be starting 2 rookies on there offensive line one of them a 6th round choice and a guy who has not started a game since 2009.

How exactly is that going for it?

They won the division and added Nnamdi Asomugha, Cullen Jenkins, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Jason Babin, Ronnie Brown, Ryan Harris, Vince Young, Steve Smith, Jarrad Page, and return specialist Johnnie Lee Higgins.

We went 6-10 and added Kenyon Coleman and Abram Elam.

So how does that fix any of the weaknesses they had from last year, there O-line Lb's and safeties are all weaker, maybe those areas don't mean much to you.

Remember we beat them 3 times and won the division in 2009, how did that work out last year.

In 2009, we went 9-7, and lost T.O., Ellis, Williams, Thomas, Canty, and Henry---6 starters total. And added only Brookings, Sensabaugh, and Olshansky. We then went on to win the division with a 11-5 record and THRWEEPING (three + sweep) the Eagles---beating them twice in less than a week.

Your point?

2009 was so long ago and the Cowboys have done NOTHING to improve since then.

May not be the point the boy is trying to make but looks like the egals are atleast going for the Run.
