What Thune is saying, or the excuse he is giving, is that there are not enough votes to kill the filibuster which would be required to pass the Save Act with 51 votes. It isn't just the 4 knucklehead Republicans responsible, it is a larger number of Republicans against killing the filibuster. To me, the larger problem for the country is that not a single Democrat will vote for the save act, or even a carved out bill to require ID to vote. If just 7 or 8 Democrats would vote for the bill it would pass. Why is this not the bigger issue, especially in states where Democrats are vulnerable? Voter ID makes so much sense and 80% of Americans support it. This is the attack vector we should be taking instead of blaming Republicans.
