Now Democrats are bitching about Trump's ballroom construction. Someone posted pictures of the outer facade of the East Wing being torn down and Democrats are going wild attacking Trump for illegally renovating the White House.

When he first announced this ballroom project my only question was why will it cost $250 million? That seems like a lot of money for a ballroom. But in the back of my mind I figured that in the $250 million is some kind of secret security project, like a bunker, control center, or some other security related construction. The ballroom is the cover story. I am guessing of course.

But the fact that taxpayers are not picking up the tab means I don't care what he is building. It is a $250 million gift to the American people because it will be there for every president after Trump.

The only fault I have with Trump is that he should have been more honest about what the construction would look like. He told us there would be no disruption to the East Wing of the WH and clearly that was not completely true.

But once it is done and the lawn and gardens are restored, I am sure the new ballroom will be as glorious as the rest of the White House, and in the future, Democrat and Republican presidents will put it to good use. Then again, Democrats today would deliberately shut the ballroom down just to stick it to Trump again.

The new White House ballroom costs a high price due to its size, the complex demolition and construction needed, and the high-end classical architectural design, which together bring the projected total to approximately $250 million.

Despite its high cost, the project is privately financed by a mix of private donors, including President Trump, and is not being paid for with taxpayer dollars, as reported by The Hill.

as always, they are just pathetic hypocrites...this is hardly the first construction project ever there.

First, I think this picture is a lot older than Obama's admin. But I get it. This isn't the first renovation of the White House and won't be the last. The fact is, this ballroom was a necessity since presidents holding state dinners for more than 200 people have had to erect large tents on White House grounds at great expense to hold their banquets. The new ballroom will seat 1000 people making it useful for every president who takes office after Trump. No more tents required.

But getting back to costs, I get the size and complexity of the construction. But it is still just a ballroom. $2800 per square foot seems extraordinarily expensive even for a gaudy Trump project. And this is all construction cost since the land is already available. Did you ever hear the jokes about the $900 toilets seats or $5000 hammers? This is that on a larger scale. As you said, it is private money so I don't really care about that. It is more a curiosity.

You have to eschew reason to vote (D) or simply have no reason, or you're just plain dishonest even with yourself.
