I don't think there's any evidence Bad Bunny was good for anything, whether here or internationally.

He was fucking terrible. People turned off the Super Bowl HT show in droves and watched an alternate program in record numbers.
what i've read is that the halftime show averaged more viewers than the game did, because over 50% came in from international markets

and the TPUSA halftime show had about 6 million vs 128 for bad bunny

if you were trying to grow the product overseas, i would think that those are encouraging numbers

BREAKING NEWS: Following Super Bowl LX, Steelers president Art Rooney II criticized Bad Bunny's halftime show as "the worst in history," claiming it lacked energy and failed to connect with traditional NFL fans. He argued the show missed the spirit of the Super Bowl and distracted viewers from the game itself. Kraft also claimed the show damaged the league's image and called on the NFL to reconsider its entertainment strategy. His remarks immediately sparked heated debate online, dividing fans and celebrities in sports and music.

I would bet any amount of money IF the parents whose children love Bad Bunny heard his songs in English, they would think twice about having them watch the half-time show.

Many people who dislike Bad Bunny point first to his lyrics, especially in reggaetón and Latin trap tracks that heavily focus on sex, partying, and power dynamics. Critics say:

  • His songs are often very explicit, with graphic sexual content and vulgar language.
  • Some lyrics are described as degrading or objectifying toward women, not just “spicy” but straight-up disrespectful.
  • Commenters argue that if these lyrics were in English, he might face harsher scrutiny in the US mainstream, and he benefits from a language barrier. https://trendsmask.com/why-are-people-against-bad-bunny-427336.html

It all depends where you get the numbers from. The TPUSA Halftime Show has over 20 million views on YouTube alone. Did they have that many during the game watching live? Probably not. But that's not the issue. The TPUSA Halftime Show was never going to overtake the NFL halftime show. But what it did was tell folks that there's an alternative and now there's a David challenging the NFL Goliath. The NFL can't possibly like a chunk of their audience tuning out and tuning into an alternative. And the advertisers can't like it either.

Bottom line is that Goodell miscalculated and miscalculated badly. I never heard of Bad Bunny but I would have still watched. Didn't Shakira recently do a half time show and sung some in Spanish? No one cared. It was the anti-American sentiment that turned a lot of people off and it really took away from the game......the game, at least in my mind, almost became secondary.

There's a reason why the "old timers" like me have tuned out more and more as the game starts to get watered down with silliness. I barely watched the first half and didn't tune back in for the second half. And I guarantee you the NFL owners will take notice since the cat is out of the bag and someone dared to challenge the NFL. And TPUSA has already announced that they'll do it again next year and I'll bet it will be bigger and chip away further from the NFL halftime viewership. There really was absolutely no need to alienate a chunk of your (rabid and hard core) audience...none....zero....zilch. And I can see them trying to address it with next year's SB halftime show being some country or big time act. But the damage is done.

I don't agree with this at all. Parenting is pretty much done in America and before Bad Bunny, there was wet Ass Pussy and graphic Rap which was/is just as bad. So I don't blame Bad Bunny for catering to an audience that is out there and will listen.

But I do blame the NFL for alienating half the citizenry with an anti-American "'artist" and forcing them to introduce alternatives that will only grow now that people have seen the way.

my source said that the #'s were during the game, and the halftime had more viewership than the game did. i did not do any research to distinguish how rare that is or isnt, but that seems like evidence of success

alternative super bowl half time shows were not just invented this year... networks have been doing it for a long, long time. i dont think the NFL feels threatened by TPUSA at all

wait until they have a super bowl in europe within the next 10 years

Those don't look like the numbers I saw.

Also, nobody that watched Bad Bunny at HT will ever become a diehard NFL fan because of it, regardless of where they are from. He's the sideshow, not the show. Nobody in their right mind is going to be like "hey that had that phaggot Bad Bunny on so now I am going to try to go all in and watch NFL games overseas"

It was a horrendous shitpile decision by the fucktard Commissioner to allow it. The ratings were terrible and it was universally criticized for being an awful show and terrible production. You can't have fucking halftime entertainment in the USA where almost everyone in attendance and watching on American TV is English speaking and have virtually the entire thing in Spanish.

This is definitely not true.

And putting the Super Bowl itself overseas would be the end of Goodell. I don't think the owners will allow it.

One other note, the "ratings" don't capture people that are DEFINITELY watching.

The fact is they have no idea how many people got up in disgust, left them room and stuffed their face with food and booze during that whole shitshow. What they do KNOW is millions of people turned it off and watched something else entirely.

What the public's during the game and postgame comments DO show was a record level of people that were disgusted over Goodell lovefest with being an anti-American fucktard. Most negative comments about a HT show in the internet history/social media history of the Super Bowl.

if you fall in love with football because of the bad bunny halftime show.... there is something wrong with your medula ablongata

i dont like the halftime show, havent cared about it at all since i saw janet jackson's titty that one time

but, bad bunny is the biggest pop star internationally, so they put him on

the "backlash" if you wanna call it that, is going to blow over no problem. the league doesnt care, the league isnt worried

all i am saying is just look at what they're telling you,,, its highly unlikely to believe that the NFL is suddenly going to ease back on their international pursuit , its only going to grow

the owners want this and they fully support this
