My official 2013 prediction for the Cowboys, as made in this week's @DCStarMagazine, 12-4. Yes, 12-4. No one realizes how good this team is.

Who the eff is this guy?

I keep seeing stuff from him from time to time like he is actually worth paying attention to.

Hello? He writes for the crappy official team magazine? He's basically an assistant to the sideshow barker.

I think we're gonna lose a lot of shoot outs. Our dline will wear down as the season goes on and our pass D will be non existent.

I don't think the team is exceptional

Good point about the DL.

I think a lot of people are taking it for granted.

The depth, despite what the hell you keep hearing from the team, is not all that.

I wondered that, too. Took a look at his twitter and he says he's been writing about the Cowboys for five years? I never heard of him until a year or two ago. No idea what his credentials are, but then he works for the team so it's not like he needs any.

Funny thing about the 12-4... He says that now. And we could if we played to our potential. But if we go 8-8, 9-7 (or worse) he'll say we didn't have the talent and probably that we got all we could out of what we had. Just needs another year in the rebuilding plan but we're right on track.

I predict he is wrong.

Same OL except for a rookie center whom they can't decide if they want to stick at center or guard.

An unproven mash unit at the safety positions along with FA fodder.

CFL quality depth at many other positions.

We'll take 8-8 and like it.

Frederick will improve the interior OL but not enough to make up for the crap that is Livings and Bernadeau. It will hurt the run game and we will once again have to rely on Romo pulling plays out of his ass. He's got tons of weapons so we will be in our fair share of games. Problem is you just can't win consistently that way. Hopefully, Callahan knows how to utilize screens more than Ivy League and we can slow down defenses more than we did last year.

MB4 is right that this D Line will break down. Homers that are (unfairly) relying on Marinelli will (unfairly) blame him when the truth is GM Jerry did absolutely nothing to improve the D Line talent. Our linebackers and cornerbacks are awesome but our safeties are once again suspect. This means we can't stop the deep pass play and we will blow leads late which is crushing.

All this means 8-8 or 7-9 or 9-7, right around.500. The same stupid architect keeps trying to build the same crumbling building. Until he learns (not likely), brings in a better architect (also not likely), or is forcefully removed, we will be the same team.

Sullybaldhead's paychecks are signed by Jerry so it's hard to give him any real credibility.

One of the reporters who got to watch OTAs and minicamps -- can't remember who it was -- said we ran more screens than he'd ever seen in previous years.

If the key guys stay healthy, I actually feel ok about the DL.

The OL is still the one major concern I have. Need to see improvement from that bunch.

Well I think it's a lock that Ratliff stays healthy. He's like the Brett Favruh of DLineman.

Which is really good, because we don't really have any 3-technique candidates behind him.

I don't think the team is exceptional

Maybe if the offense can play 4 quarters. I can't see as many second half comebacks this year so it's gonna take more than just showing up after halftime. If the DL wears down at all and the opponents are allowed to get leads again this year, I don't expect much different than what happened last year.

I hope the defense can start strong to allow the offense to find an easier transition to a new play caller. I know the system and likely playbook are the same but how the team approaches certain situations and how the first series is scripted may not be the same. I think it could take a little getting used to but likely not much.

I wonder if how the team will call plays will change. I'd like to see them call a single play in the huddle and allow Romo to audible rather than going with 2 plays and picking the better matchup. I'm sure Romo has the ability to audible if needed but why not just eliminate the 2nd call and give him full autonomy to direct the game as he sees fit?

I know it's not going to happen but I'd like to see Romo orchestrate more in the fashion that Manning does. Not sure what game but he basically lined up and for about 4-5 straight plays audibled into either a screen pass or took the snap and immediately threw to the TE or WR who's defender was playing off. Just chewing up yardage left and right. The defense was so off balance it wasn't funny.

I want to see Dallas dictate to the opponent from the onset and not have to rely on Romo to carry the team in the 2nd half. They have the skill players but unfortunately because of the OL they are almost forced to keep extra guys in to block and have limited ability to actually spread the ball around. Combined with a retarded reluctance to put younger guys on the field even when a guy like Ogletree is pretty much off in the clouds, Dallas didn't have a guy playing the #3 position for a good portion of the year. 14 of Ogletree's 32 catches came in the first 3 weeks of the season. Guy was practically a ghost from there on out.

I can't figure out who we'll be playing in the Super Bowl. There doesn't seem to be any real strong AFC contenders this year.

Guess you'd have to go Baltimore, but then who? I think the Hernandez arrest/Welker departure is kind of the end of the Patriots run, like our Irvin arrest was. Not that Hernandez was it the same stratosphere as Irvin. Just that all the distractions, loss of core guys, etc will finally catch up. Patriots will still be a 10 win team, by virtue of playing in the AFC East... but they're not a SB team anymore IMO.

Chicken or the egg. Does he suck at PA or does no defense fear it since our run game has been horrible lately.

He is just not all that good at playaction. Watch his PA last year. Most of the time he was faking to air.

He's better at the jump up in the air fake throw Favre thing than he is at concealing a football.
