Stephen Jones: Cowboys offensive line is ‘starting to come together’

As the saying goes, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Well, if the Cowboys are a chain, they’re only as strong as their offensive line.

When it hasn’t been false starts and holding calls, it’s been little protection for Tony Romo and few holes for DeMarco Murray and the run game.

But according to Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones, the front five enters Week 6 coming off their best showing of the young season. Jones said Monday that the starting group of Tyron Smith, Doug Free, Ryan Cook, Nate Livings and Mackenzy Bernadeau is benefiting from finally playing together after injuries prevented that from happening during training camp.

“I do think they’re starting to come together,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. “Believe it or not, we believe they played their best game against the Bears. (They) had gotten rid of the penalties and we’re actually doing some good things. We just got behind because of turnovers. I feel like we’re heading in a good direction.”

Truth be told, monday night was their best performance. By far.

However, the run blocking was still atrocious

WTF? Come together how?

I guess maybe they're watching practice and seeing our OL somehow give Romo protection against our no pass rush, no pass defense scheme and think "its coming together"

‘starting to come together’ is Jones-speak for "not sucking quite as bad as they were before."

Monday was their best game only if you look at the penalty aspect.

No coincidence that the penalties were less frequent after having cut out all the presnap bullshit.

Where did this "they played ok" rumour start? They still can't be trusted to block long enough for us to run route combinations, play action, or deep balls.

Our offense is severely scaled down.

Whatever you may think about his controversial societal views Theebs nailed it. You blitz us, leave a safety over the top, watch us break off our route and then make the tackle.

I'm sure this is news to Tony Romo. They couldn't hold back a 9 month old last Monday.
