Back in the 1980s I was working for a major bank in NYC. I was leading a development team that built a wire transfer system to send money anywhere in the world. Customers could dial-n, log into the system and access their accounts to send money t0 over 125 countries. The system was hacked one day and the hackers were wiring money to banks all over the US. Working with federal authorities we identified the hackers who were located in 5 different countries. It took about a month to find them. The difficulty of finding hackers in 5 countries is 100 times more complex than finding someone withdrawing money or cashing checks in a US bank. It is inconceivable to me that DOGE identified 20 million fraudulent Social Security accounts and after a month or more they have not identified and arrested a single person stealing the money.

The process is so simple it should take no longer than 1 day. SS knows where the money is sent. If it is by check, there is an address. Someone has to physically take possession of the check and then take it someplace to cash it. If it is direct deposit, it could get just a bit more complicated nut still pretty easy to find out what is happening to the money.

The fact that no one has been identified and arrested leads me to believe that DOGE jumped the gun on their announcements. What they found m ight just be data quality issues and not fraud. It really is time for them to put up or shut up.

Just a reminder, J^ protesters were put in prison for months for trespassing in the Capitol Building, even if they did not damage. I do not want to hear liberals complaining about free speech rights.

DODE doesn't have subpoena authority. They're not investigators. I work in the industry as well and dealing with other (receiving) banks is cumbsersome and they're not very coorperative even in cases of clear fraud. And as I mentioned earlier, I'm not sure that today's FBI, IRS, Secret Service, etc has the chops to handle these types of complex cases and, even if they did (which they don't), it could take a long time to indict and arrests these scoundrels. I would imagine that there are cases where funds were funneled to wretched traitors like Stacey Abrams and then it becomes a legal and accounting issue. Her taking funds meant for poor folks to buy appliances might be unethical but the question is whether it's illegal.

I wasn't pointing fingers at DOGE specifically. I am sure the DOJ has heard what DOGE is reporting too and would be interested in following up on this stuff. It should be a priority for the DOJ after DOGE has reported the issues if for no other reason than to back up DOGE which has come under fire from Democrats.

But, you also make a valid point. My experience in the early 1990s could be a vastly different situation now. Back then, the FBI were experts in investigating bank fraud cases, like check kiting and other simple bank fraud cases. Today they don't seem to have the same talent level.

Jill Biden is one of the most reprehensible people I can ever recall. She is the reason her husband, who was already showing signs of dementia in 2020 ran for president in the first place. She was instrumental in the coverup of his decline. She is Lady MacBeth.

But I have to respond to one point that Joe made about the incompetence of the Trump admin on COVID. Biden said 1 million people died due to the incompetence of Trump. It is true 1 million did die, but 660,000 of them died after Trump left office. In fact, fewer people died when Trump was president despite there not being a vaccine, and that the original COVID was unknown, treatment options were unknown, and the first virus, pre-mutation, was the most deadly.

I watched the daily COVID briefing that the Trump admin held with Pence and the head of the response team and I can honestly, and objectively, say I have never seen a response team better prepared, more proactive, and more communicative than that team. Not only were they on top of the facts, but they addressed potential issues before they became major problems more effectively than anything we have seen in government before.

It wasn't until Fauci starting using those briefings to subvert Trump that the COVID response team went off the rails.

The Times Square Alliance is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and is governed by a large, voluntary Board of Directors.

Times Square Arts, the public art program of the Times Square Alliance, collaborates with contemporary artists and cultural institutions to experiment and engage with one of the world's most iconic urban places. Through the Square's electronic billboards, public plazas, vacant areas and popular venues, and the Alliance's own online landscape, Times Square Arts invites leading contemporary creators to help the public see Times Square in new ways. Times Square has always been a cultural district and place of risk, innovation and creativity, and the arts program ensures these qualities remain central to the district's unique identity.

Visitors and residents of Times Square have a new piece of artwork on view these days: a 12-foot-tall sculpture of a woman, titled Grounded in the Stars, stands at Broadway and 46th Street.

The bronze sculpture is the brainchild of London-based figurative artist Thomas J Price (Jamaican father / English mother). By creating the fictional character, Price aimed to encapsulate the observations, images, and open calls of New York, Los Angeles, and London.

The sculpture of the young woman is just one of Price’s works for onlookers to observe as they pass through the iconic area. Throughout May, Price’s stop-motion animation Man Series will be featured on over 90 billboards. The multi-channel presentation is part of the world’s largest digital public art initiative, Midnight Moment, and passersby can catch the nightly presentation on screens from 11:57 p.m. to 12 a.m.

“I hope Grounded in the Stars and Man Series will instigate meaningful connections and bind intimate emotional states that allow for deeper reflection around the human condition and greater cultural diversity.”

Grounded in the Stars is supported by the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Foundation, Morgan Stanley, the New York State Council on the Arts, public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the City Council, and the Times Square Edition Hotel. The sculpture will be on display through June 17.
