  • I'm not going to read too much negative or positive about this game. It's a divisional game, and they're always a dogfight no matter how bad or good each team looks. That is something that I always take for granted.
    ---
  • There is this phenomenom with this team that baffles me. Whenever we play a team with a glaring weakness - be it a depleted secondary, a backup QB, an offensive line in disarray etc... we can never exploit this. I don't know why that is.
    ---
  • I feel like we got extremely lucky this game. Almost like we stole one. We got a TD pass that SHOULD'VE been ruled incomplete (Dez). We got a punt return for a TD where the most blatant non-called block in the back penalty took place right where Harris caught the ball. We got a pick six on a very flukey, ball bounces around off shins and elbows and just hangs in the air play. A lot of lucky breaks.
    ---
  • Still another game where the offense scores less than 20. And at no point was the no huddle given a look. Why is that?
    ---
  • Was it me, or was Romo getting more animated/frustrated than I've seen in a long time. You know he hates his offensive line. They are killing him. Three step drops and he's smothered. That Houdini play he made was vintage Romo, and I hate that our best plays come from him having to do that. Get the guy a pocket, ffs.
    ---
  • Speaking off Oline, I'm really hoping Ryan Cook isn't starting next week. Hats off to the guy. Great acquisition IMO. Give up a 7th rounder for a guy who starts a few games and does a decent job from time to time. But the longer he's in there, the worse he's looking. Give Kowalski a look.
    ---
  • I know Felix had a decent game, but I still hate that guy. He's so lazy. You can see the natural talent - and he'll pull a Martellus - go to another team next year where he's "the guy" and he'll be a fantasy freak. I'll take that risk. Ship him out.
    ---
  • Bruce Carter is better than Sean Lee. Am I crazy for suggesting that?
    ---
  • Bad two week stretch for Claiborne. I don't want to be knee-jerky, but after he had to hold Riley Cooper, the first word that came to my mouth was "bust." I don't think that's the case, but he's not as good as I had hoped he'd be. Of course, pick 6 nothwithstanding, neither is Carr.
    ---
  • Glad to see Peprah on the field and deliver a big hit. I love McCray on special teams, but that should be his role only.
    ---
  • Overall, a satisfying win. I hate the Eagles so I like the idea of burying Reid and Vick. Glad to win a division game and get off the skid.

the only downfall to this win is that the pressure was clearly on Jerry all week and not from just the fans or the media. Ex Players and coaches had alot to say. This game essentially wipes his slate clean again. I thouroughly enjoyed watching him squirm this week even if it meant nothing in the long run

Watching Romo's potential over these past few years get wasted by a horrid offensive line has made me stomach sick to say the least.
We were blessed to have him fall in our laps and give us some stability at position that we have lacked for years, and we have wasted our good fortune by surrounding him with below avaerage players

I dont care about the win because this team is going nowhere. I am content in my mindset that this team needs to fail in an epic way before things can get better
Before this win we had the 4th worst record in our last 13 or 14 games.

Jerry "I told we can make a run at the super bowl this year"

I agree that I enjoyed the pressure that was on Dallas, but truthfully like you said it meant nothing. So it's better for me to enjoy a win and not spend the evening crysturbating myself to sleep like I usually do.

Bruce Carter and Sean Lee next season will be a lethal combination. Cowboys should have picked off another 3 or 4 more passes.

The win was extremely important. Next week the Browns, should be a win, 5-5 and only a game behind the Giants, who looked horrible yesterday. If the Cowboys have to blow it up, then every NFC East team should aswell because the division is pretty terrible and wide open.

Not sure how one win against a beat up Philly team fielding a rookie QB erases 16 years of Jerry's ineptitude. The big winner was Garrett, whose seat got a little less warm (darnit).

I was referring to Jerry being on the hot seat all week from everyone. A bad loss would have continued the onslaught. Like I said. It would't have changed anything, but I loved for once seeing him in agony like us fans have been for years

Lee is still better.

Carter is making some eye-popping physical plays out there but he is being tested in coverage (and they're getting completions, he is just dropping them instantly) and if you think back this year Sean Lee was basically in on every tackle. I think Lee's anticipation is just better because of experience but long term there is really no ceiling for Bruce probably. He plays fast and physical I think our defense is in good hands for a long time. If we were to move to a 4-3 I think we'd have our Urlacher-Briggs for a decade.

Agreed. Plus, two defensive tackles (and four defensive linemen) in front of the LB's will suck up more blocking giving Lee and Carter cleaner lanes to the ball carrier. A third LB would not be hard to find and we may already have him (Ernie Sims).

I think a 4-3 makes the following players so much better:
DeMarcus Ware moving to RDE (less coverage responsibilities)
Sean Lee moving to MLB (two DT's in front of him)
Bruce Carter to WOLB (natural position, his speed will standout even more)
Jay Ratliff (lining up over the guard, less double teams)
Barry Church (this all depends on scheme and coaching style but generally a SS shares zone duties with 3 LB's in a 4-3 vs 2 ILB's in a 3-4).

Also means we would not have to bring back Spencer, although he could play LDE (his college position) if we converted. I've slowly come to realize Spencer is a much more valuable member of this defense than I have (not) given him credit for. As far as negotiating a new contract though, he would not be as necessary in a 4-3.

I think we will target DL in the draft regardless. Spears stays in the dog house, Coleman is old and will be a free agent, Ratliff is getting older, and Hatcher is more cold than hot. IMO, Lissemore, Crawford, and Brent would all have no problem converting to a 4-3.

Only thing that makes me nervous about a 4-3 is there's no guarantee Ware makes that transition easily after almost a decade of standing up?

We're at least better at finding 3-4 personnel than we were at finding 4-3 personnel post-Jimmy.

He could still stand up on the edge as a 4-3 DE. Julius Peppers does that more and more. Also, Ware puts his hand in the ground ocassionally now. I don't think much changes for Ware in a 4-3 except hopefully less dropping into the flats for coverage responsibilities.

Also, many of the players we have drafted (or signed as UDFA) played a 4-3 in college.

Marcus Spears
DeMarcus Ware
Anthony Spencer
Victor Butler
Alex Albright
Jay Ratliff
Sean Lee
Bruce Carter
Tyrone Crawford

The Cowboys aren't a very good team, but I did enjoy seeing them turn in some big plays yesterday.

If the Cowboys can put three or four of these kinds of games together, they may actually become a better team. Making big plays can lead to making more of them in the future. Winning begets winning.

So maybe this team will catch fire, in a good way.

(not holding my breath, but entertaining the possibility)

Most of the time football is about talent and coaching but confidence comes into play as well. The defense, with the exception of Claiborne, should be confident after Sunday's game. I'm not really worried about Claiborne though. I get that all young players need time.

hint hint Bob and your relentless bashing of Tyron Smith.

Does Jason Witten have the lowest TD to REC ratio in the history of the league?

9000 catches and 12 TDs.

A win is a win.
Even a win against a team in flux w/a rookie reliever at QB still counts. At least the team kept playing hard and the bounces went our way.
Zero nailed it,it's great think about this team taking advantage of the remaining schedule and actually playing better.
But I ain't holding my breath.
