Does this make me a Romo lover or Romo hater?

I acknowledge that Romo has never had the benefit of having a respectable head coach or quality head coach.

Gaudy stats notwithstanding, I do not think he's the kind of QB that can carry his team like some of the elite do.

I think he can win a Super Bowl, but in order to do so, he'll need to be paired with a solid running game and a top 10 defense. He needs to NOT be the focal point of the offense, IMO. More of a controlled game manager who's capable of throwing it around if neccessary. But throwing it around week to week to week is not optimum and reduces our chances significantly.

I do not presently advocate trading or cutting him. But I do advocate finding a young replacement - although considering our needs and lack of resources this off season, I would be okay with waiting until next off season*


*unless Tyler Bray, QB, Tennessee is available in the third round to us

I'll assume you're referring to the last turnover. If he didn't throw that pick in the flat, and instead he drove the team down the field and scored a TD it would have been on his back. He would be being praised for winning that game again, single-handedly.

So what you have boiled it down to is one interception has defined him for you as a QB?

Not necessarily. Had we scored points on the drives where he threw the first two picks in Redskins territory, last-second heroics from him might not have been required. The guy's a flawed diamond.

Tim, long time Tony Romo supporter here. I've engaged in a many vicious internet battles in my years defending Romo. I sat in stunned silence as that game ended Sunday. I couldn't believe that his critics were actually right. That's just one big game let down too many for my tastes. The Cowboys don't have anybody better to replace him, as he is a pretty good QB, but they should get started on that pronto, right?

Cowlishaw: You're thoughts are very similar to mine, what I wrote a column about for Tuesday paper. Last week I couldn't believe the people who said Cowboys would lose to Washington because of Romo. Then I couldn't believe how right they were. The people who say this team wouldn't have reached 8 wins with most of the other starting QBs in the league are absolutely right. But that's not the end of the story. The manner in which Romo has ended every season -- not a few of them but all of them in which he has played -- has to be disturbing. It doesn't mean there's something better out there that is easily attainable. It does mean there are legitimate reasons to doubt he will ever start a Super Bowl no matter what the team does around him.

He'll need to do better at OC than one who needs All-Pros at every position to succeed on O.
