A parasite outbreak is causing explosive diarrhea across America. A woman in Denver went to the bathroom FORTY TIMES (!!) in a SINGLE DAY. She's one of THOUSANDS of Americans hit by a parasite most people had never heard of a week ago: Cyclospora cayetanensis. Even scarier: washing your salad won't stop it, freezing won't kill it, and one state is reporting TWICE as many cases as the CDC says exist in the whole country. Everyone is behind the curve, and I did HOURS of research to help you stay safe and protect your loved ones.

I'm Neal K. Shah, a Johns Hopkins- and NIH-funded caregiving researcher and CEO of CareYaya. I've dedicated my life to helping older adults, people living with serious illness and the vulnerable population. This topic impacts the people I care for. In this video I break down the Cyclospora outbreak spreading rapidly across 31 states and EXACTLY what'll keep your family safe.

The Drivecast with Joel Feder

I Reported on Flock’s Cameras. Now I’m One of the System’s Mistakes

How a typo entered 2,000 miles away triggered Flock's cameras — and led four police officers to surround me.

Typically I report the news, but sometimes, rarely, I am the news. That time just came. Millions of people saw the story about my wife and I getting surrounded by the police after errors made by law enforcement and Flock Safety’s systems led authorities to believe I had performed grand theft auto with a $155,000 Range Rover. The body cam footage of the situation went viral.

The reason this story became a lightning rod placing my face on countless news programs and my voice on a laundry list of radio shows and podcasts isn’t a secret: It landed in the middle of a heated debate around the country about Flock Safety’s, among others, growing network of AI-powered surveillance cameras, which police and the feds can tap into to track people’s lives.

Now, I understand Oil . . .
Not from that video. Although some of it is accurate, we used to refine West Texas Intermediate crude. Every refinery we had was set up for it and we had them inside cities. Then people realized refineries in urban areas were a major health hazard and they all got dismantled and became superfund sites.

And the video never addressed the actual chemistry - you have sweet and sour crude and processing them into useful products is two vastly different operations. Sweet crude is alkaline - it's a strong base. Sour crude is acidic. You can imagine right there the immediate differences in handling as early in the process as pumping! Your metallurgy is entirely opposite! That's everything pipes valves pumps tanks containers... Tanker material... Your process chemistry... Everything.

We had an infrastructure set up for our own crude. Didn't need any foreign oil. Then the government made it uneconomical to take out of the ground with punitive taxation and regulation -- while the dirt cheap middle east crude could be shipped in at 1/4th the cost. We retooled our refining infrastructure.

Recently the regulations and taxation has been relaxed making it economical to pump our own oil and sell it. But I can tell you from hands on experience that we still have around 80 percent of our wells on every lease, capped. We're putting out only a trickle of what we could do - flood the market and you kill the golden goose.

Anyhow, I could go on but my point is it's not as babyshit simple as that video makes it out to be, and it's also misleading.

I watched this Star Trek episode last night and was blown away. By far THE most high-concept Trek ever produced and I mean of all of them, movies included.

I won't spoil it, I'll just say it's a must watch. Here's a tidbit though:
