Way overdue for Charlie Hustle

I hate baseball....and I say that after loving the game for many, many years. I won't watch a game unless it's the playoffs and even then it depends if my team is playing. What they did to one of the greatest players in the game is outrageous, all the while pimping up these cyborg roided out hitters.

I'm with you. I was a huge, diehard MLB fan growing up. We couldnt wait for Monday Night Baseball or the Game of the Week on Saturdays. This Week in Baseball was must see TV. I watched the Braves on the SuperStation only so I could see out of town teams. Once cable became a thing we got the Cubs games too. (and some White Sox and Mets). In the 70's and early 80's we knew almost every teams lineups. Game sux today. Interleague play sux. Too many stupid rules and have no idea the comings and goings of most players.

I don't even recognize the game today. Pitchers don't go 9 innings any more. No one moves the base runners....no one can bunt....it's almost like it's a homerun or a strikeout. It's maddening.

pitchers now are all about velocity and kids are throwing their arms out and getting tommy john surgery younger and younger

i dont think scouts nowadays would give a rookie greg maddux the time of day on a pitching staff

Injuries happen so much with pitchers now because of two things:

1) Throwing sliders too early, this pitch is murder on elbows
2) Not enough arm strengthening done from just throwing. Pitchers arms are babied at all levels now. We threw (maybe not pitched) almost everyday when I was young, especially long toss which builds arm strength and stamina. They dont do this much anymore and inning/pitch count limits are in place all the way down to little league

you're right......My son played baseball from his early years and through high school; I was watching the pitchers on his team from the time they were just kids. You're right about velocity but it would drive me crazy when kids in little league are throwing curveballs. That just wasn't allowed back in the day simply because it would wreck a young guy's arm. It's crazy when I see some of the arms on these kids and they'll just wreck them....

i like analytics as a tool, but baseball teams are framing their entire franchises around it. analytics will never account for what your eyes are showing you

i will never get over watching a team pull a guy early because he's about to face the lineup for a 3rd time while he's throwing strikes and the team is ahead
