We took shop class, vocational ed which included auto shop, electric shop, carpentry.... OUT of our public school system. My High School, Caprock High in Amarillo Texas used to build and sell a house every year. It was tradition since 1964. It got cancelled in the late 90s.

It was all a plan to disable us and our workforce. Look at us today. 20 year olds can't do anything but buss tables and flip burgers.

proud to say I voted for him if only for principle and in spite of those who probably still say I elected Clinton but I would beg to differ, everyone who wanted to vote for Perot but didnt out of fear is why we ended up with Clinton

I didnt pay enough to know what it was like day to day in the Reagan era but this first 6 months has ben incredible and there's been nothing like it that I am aware of in the last 3 decades

its F'ing shame that a good chunk of this country is still constantly belly aching about Trump being a dictator, etc, etc and have no appreciation for the effort his administration is putting forth on behalf of the best interest of the US at large

My wife and I were having this conversation the other day about how people cannot do anything for themselves anymore. Growing up everyone cleaned their own houses, mowed their own lawns, changed the oil in their own cars, fixed broken stuff around the house, etc. Now, people hire others to do all this stuff. No one, except me, mows their own lawns in my area anymore. It used to be industrious kids would maybe mow a neighbor's lawn for $10 or so. There are landscaping trucks driving around all day from house to house, and all of the workers are Latinos. These are the workers Democrats claim we need. The same thing with house cleaning. Everyone has a maid come once a week or so. This is a sign of affluence, and yet we have 78 million people on Medicaid?

We need to get back to being more self-reliant. Perhaps the fact that most people don't do any of this work anymore for themselves is why we are the fattest society in the world.

I still do all my own stuff. What scares me though are the 20 year old socially promoted HS "graduate" who has exactly zero practical abilities or knowledge. This alone is what's destroying this great experiment.
