I agree 110% with Mid...

The problem is everyone always wants to cry about the lack of press coverage or blitzing.. Look around the league. Watch some of these other teams play.. You're not seeing it that often anymore. These rules that are making it an offensive league have changed the way these defenses play. Bottom line.

Rob Ryan is a good DC. Considering the circumstances that Mid has already mentioned... I've been extremely impressed. Most of you are just being those unreasonable fans and its showing in your arguments in this thread.

lol numbers don't lie, amigo. Most of these opposing QBs have had some of their best advanced stats of the year against us.

Ryan called a great game week 1, but he's been an inconsistent mess since. Pitt was able to move up and down with ease until Ben fucked up on that throw to Carr in OT.

Cinci dropped about 800 balls and New Orleans had wide open receivers the entire game. So if Ryan isn't blitzing, there sure is minimal added benefit in coverage.

Well, since no one wants to supply any names... here goes, a few I think will make good Defensive Co-ordinators...
Keith Butler (Steelers LB coach)
Winston Moss (Packers LB coach)
Jim Tomsula (49ers DL coach)
Ken Norton Jr. (Seahawks LB coach)

Rob is a shitty DC, even when his players are healthy.

He can stay if he wants, though. Especially if Jason gets to stay.

And if those two get to stay, Doug Free should get to stay. And if Doug Free stays, so should Danny McCray.

also sterling marlin and Charlie peppers.

everyone stay. Ok?

Not a bad list. I think Butler is being promised the Stealers DC job though once LeBeau steps away/retires (which might be after this season)

Ray Horton is someone else to watch. He's done a pretty good job in Arizona and we wanted to hire him as DB coach 2yrs ago. I think most of the Arizona staff will be fired after the season and he could be available. Horton also coached in Pitt under LeBeau.

IDK what to think for Ryan honestly.

If we're grading him flat out on performance, then he needs to be fired. We allow one of the worst passer ratings in the league. 22 TDs allowed to 7 INTs. We can rarely get stops in big situations. Sometimes it seems like we're scheming to allow huge voids in coverage sometimes directly in the middle of the field. (That's speculative because who knows if thats the case or if Peter Frampton forgot his coverage assignment.)

But you have to factor in injuries to his performance.

You also have to factor in games like the first Washington game - where I felt we had a great defensive gameplan - our defenders were consistently in position to make plays they just didn't, and Pierre Garcon, Moss and Co. made catches I haven't seen another team make all year in one game.

I also never want to see another personal foul called on a coordinator again.

I'd lean towards firing. I think he's a decent coach but I've seen no improvement. Will another year make a difference?
