You guys keep mentioning Safety's. If you read my initial post. I said can anyone name the DB's of those teams and tell me where all the superstars are.

there were a number of outstanding secondary players on those teams.
New england 04 - Ty Law, asante samuel, Rodney harrison, tyrone poole
Pittsburgh 05 - Troy Polamalu, deshea townsend, ike taylor, chris hope
Indy 06- Bob Sanders, Marlin Jackson, Kelvin Hayden, Nick harper, antoine bethea
Ny Giants 07 - Aaron ross, corey webster, sam madison, gibril wilson, Kevin dockery
Pittsburgh 08 - polamalu, ryan clark , townsend, taylor, mcfadden
New Orleans 09 - Jabbari greer, Malcom jenkins, patrick robinson, romah harper
Green Bay 2010 - charles woodson, atari bigby, nick collins, tramon williams, jarrett bush
Ny giants 2011 - 16 dbs on roster in 11 throughout year, antrel rolle, kenny phillips, deion grant, ross, akamura, webster

like i said before really bad analogy. Most of these players were acquired via expensive free agency contracts or valuable draft picks and in almost all cases sans new england these players were put there because the previous year or years the secondaries were poor. The giants, saints and packers had bad defenses that couldnt stop anyone in the year or years before there championship and it was the secondary where the front offices threw numbers at......like the giants, big time free agency money and a number of first and second round corners.

Can anyone name the starting defensive backs for these super bowl winners

CB's and safeties are DB's. And nowhere in your question did it say anything about superstars

bkeavs.... would you agree or disagree with the following statement:

The Cowboys have had serious issues covering the back end of the defense for years.

Now you are interpreting my question.

I guess I should be literal but the point of the excercise was to show that of the last 8 year super bowl winners. Maybe only one team had a superstar CORNERBACK

Yes

Thats why we adressed it in free agency.

so put it in terms of dynamic playmakers. If you say dynamic players in the secondary there were alot of them.

what those teams have is what we now have, a number of good players in there secondary which will most likely lead one to have a great year, the way law, webster, woodson, taylor, jenkins had.

what they didnt have was a glaring weakness and we if poole is decent neither should we this year.

So you felt as though Carr and Poole solidified our secondary?

Also, your habit of replying on top of quoted text is a fightable offense. If I ever see you in person, expect a throat punch.

Why during the draft do they have Claibourne listed as a DB and Barron listed as a safety

I'm going to go with most corners can play safety, but most safeties are either too big or too slow to play corner.
Either that or they surmised this very question would appear on pro football forums.

I mentioned before how we should've lost @ Washington b/c they got a 20 yard catch and run by a FB.

NTM the catch and run factor by Cruz/nicks

And we should have won @ New York TWICE.

We should have won against Lions.

We should have won @ Arizona.

Your point again?

Throat Punch is kinda gay

I felt that with the addition of Carr and the hopes we would somehow improve our pass rush and offensive line that we would be ok with Jenkins, Carr, Scandrick Sensabaugh and Pool/draft choice)

question- if a coach wants to have an ultra aggressive blitz happy scheme, but in any particular year doesnt have the DB's he feels confident enough in to leave them alone constantly in coverage, would that result in less blitzing, less "numbers" used in the blitz and probably some less creative blitzing?

point being, he's got a loaded CB situation now...just because we dont have DeMarcus Ware-lite opposite Ware, doesnt mean we wont be able to generate an y pass rush.

Indeed. Ryan plans to blitz from all over: with Lee, Connor, Scandrick, whomever.

But there really weren't dynamic pass rushers either at 6, or at 14.

And Crawford is a decent pass rusher. As is Wilber.

Not to mention, by improving coverage, we give our rushers added time to get to the QB.

I'm going to move on but I thought Fletcher Cox would have been a beast for us. Now I have to watch him play for Philly and hopefully he blows out a knee
