Apparently, if he can't serve the governor has to call for a special election, which in this case would be the regular elections. So whether McConnell can or can't serve that seat will be empty until November.

But this stuff has to stop. McCain, Feinstein and now McConnell all incapable f serving but stayed in their Senate seats until death. The people of this country deserve better. Age limits or term limits are what is best for America.

And one more thing about this Mitch McConnell episode. When I was in the corporate world, companies had forced retirement for executives. In my company which was a major global bank, the age was 73. There was a reason for this and we see it with the likes of McConnell. In the corporate world McConnell would have been forced out a long time ago when the first sign of incompetence were seen. We should have the same rules for congress - and the president. At 80 years old, it is time to retire and let someone else take your place.

Career politicians are a plague to our country.

It's probably one of the very few things the Founders missed, only because they never anticipated a government becoming so corrupt that people would make a career of it instead of doing something else useful with most of their lives.
