A stretch of highway north of Nashville has officially been renamed the Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway in honor of the late conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder following his 2025 assassination.

State officials said the memorial signs were installed without state funding, though the source of the funding has not been publicly identified.

If only Simpson were still alive to see this!

his is so crazy. Kids today have absolutely no fear whatsoever.
They had fear. No way to do such a thing without it. It hypers your attention to detail. You learn to control it and use it. If you don't have fear in this stuff, you're going to make a fatal mistake.

Speaking as a former rabid base jumper and rappeller, motorcycle jumper, stock car driver, motorcycle racer.

I've tons of pics from 30+ years ago, AI will even turn them into videos, I posted one recently of my dorm room bar
There's a bunch of us up here who lost everything in the 2006 wildfires. Including family photo albums going all the way back to the 40s. I was in Ohio on a govt job when everything I owned was wiped out. Including my prized 1968 Hydrodyne Flat Top 20 foot boat. All my furniture, clothes, all vcr videos all pictures. Everything. But that was just stuff in a friend's barn. The friend lost all belongings including his house, barn, all outbuildings. His livestock.

If you're doubting me that's on you, friendo.

Im not doubting you, I wanted to see the cool shit you did, lighten up Francis
Losing everything is still a sore spot. Apologies.
Only pics I knew of that were taken of any of it was when a friend and I rappelled off the north face of the Herring building downtown. (Had owner's permission.) We made an all day thing out of it rappelling it repeatedly even going "Aussie" a few times.

Motorcycle jumping was at the Canadian River, racing was at the dirt track in the 80s, there was lots of rappelling and base jumping at Palo Duro Canyon, base jumping illegally off tallest bldg in town, and off the old Smelter smokestack after they announced its demolition. Encountering anything tall caused invasive thoughts and still does even today, as does those damn flatbed car hauler trailers which for some reason they have to display them tail down - making them perfect jump ramps!

Certainly wish I had pictures and videos but I'd trade that for my lost boat and my dodge coronet super bee which got roasted in the same fire.

It's kind of fortunate in a way that all my gear was lost too. One can get too old for this type stuff in a hurry and not know it - or worse, deny it. Losing $1000s of dollars in base jumping and rappelling equipment probably saved me from doing dumb stuff past my prime.
