Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan describes his play-calling philosophy as "aggressively taking what the defense gives him."
So if this is your core ingrained philosophy, it is the exact opposite of what Dallas has been doing this year. "Taking what they give us" is the opposite of aggressive. It is passive, it is letting the defense dictate what you do.
What Dallas does is run first, making you as the opponent adjust your defense - sell out to slow down the running game - then when you do that we start taking chunks out of your hide via the pass, until we get you to spread out again then we start bludgeoning again. And all the while throwing in some deep balls taking stabs at your heart.
Tenderizing the meat, then cooking and eating chunks of it, then tenderizing more of it, then cooking and eating more of it until you fucking submit. THAT is aggressive.
There is nothing at all aggressive about "taking what they give us."
We fucking MAKE you give us, what WE want.
