Jerry Jones: Cowboys' win was 'beautiful to me'

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Jerry Jones doesn’t want to hear that the Cowboys’ five-point win over the 1-5 Carolina Panthers wasn’t a work of art.
“Candidly, the win, to get out on the upper end of that score, was beautiful to me,” Jones said after the 19-14 victory. “There wasn’t one thing ugly about it to me.”
It didn’t bother Jones that the Cowboys reached the end zone only once against a Carolina team that entered the game ranked 21st in the NFL in scoring defense. The fact that the Cowboys had to sweat until the final seconds didn’t matter to Jones.
All he cared about was the Cowboys leaving Carolina with a 3-3 record, which keeps them “in the hunt,” as Jones said, and allows him to continue dreaming that his team can develop into a contender.
And Jones was already looking forward to next week’s home game against the defending Super Bowl champion Giants, which he views as an opportunity for the Cowboys to make it clear that they’re capable of contending.
“If you look at where everybody else is around the league, we’re not digging out of anything,” Jones said. “We’ve got a chance to improve and build on where we are. We’ve got a big-time game coming up here against the Giants. We know what that game means.
“We do a good job against the Giants and come out of there with the win, what is everybody going to be saying? It’s amazing what eight days could do.”
