I remember Sean Penn going down to Venezuela to press his lips on the butthole of Hugo Chavez. Chavez started the corruption in Venezuela in the same way Castro destroyed Cuba. I am not a fan of what Trump did down there. I thought the US put this government toppling by force behind us a long time ago. It never works out well for us in the long run. But if we somehow manage to establish real democracy and prosperity in Venezuela again, maybe this time military intervention is worth it.
But, every time we do something like this, people turn up in these countries to use what we did against us and to turn their people against us. It reinforces the bully label and since Venezuela's chief export is oil it looks like Iraq all over again.
I will give Trump the benefit of the doubt for now, but I hope he moves to turn Venezuela over to its people as quickly as possible. We should not be running that country.
One other point, I am hearing the usual suspects claim this intervention was unconstitutional. It may be morally objectionable to some, but there is nothing unconstitutional about it. This is not a war,, it is a police action. Every president since I can remember did something similar.
