He said he was happy with our OL last year too.. then we went out and drafted Smith and 5 other OL.

Said he liked our WR's the year we drafted Dez.

Again.. don't put any stock in anything he's saying this time of year.
Then he should stfu.

We won games in spite of our defense..the offense carried this team, namely Romo

That's ignorant. It was the defense that held the Cardinals to 13 points in regulation in a game we should have won. It was the defense that held the Patriots to their lowest point total of the season.

Most of the games we lost can be laid at the offense.

I think it was close to 50-50. Seemed like at the beginning of the year our D was playing better than the offense, and when the offense turned it on our D started to fuck up. Just couldn't get all 3 units playing well at the same time.

And if Bruce Carter is anywhere near as good as Sean lee is, we're set at ILB for almost a decade.

Thats a very big iff.

Lets not forget Sean lee will be 26 going into the season next year. He's got maybe 4 or 5 real productive pro bowl years left . He also seems to get hurt often

We need to improve the front seven. You can never have enough defensive linemen or linebackers.

I guess you could say the same for the secondary, but we need to improve the front seven first. I know we need help in the secondary too but it's been proven with a deep front seven or front four, it makes your secondary look better.

Example: See the Giants.

Jerry backed himself in a corner with Sensabaugh to the point that it does somewhat make sense to resign the guy. The problem is that the secondary should've been addressed in the 2011 draft. If it had then the 1 year deal that Sensabaugh recieved last season would've given them time to transition the draft pick into the lineup. By ignoring the defense in last season's draft and opting to fill both safety spots through 1 year FA contracts it leaves them in the same predicament they were in last offseason. That's either a total blunder in personnel and contract management, or a total lack of appreciation for defense.

What we know is that the Cowboys had the 31st ranked defense going into last offseason and didn't draft 1 player with potential to help them on that side of the ball. Instead they decided to rebuild an offense that ranked 7th and is stacked at every skill position. Should they had drafted Tyrone Smith? YES. But the rest of that draft should've been dedicated to filling some of the holes on defense.

You have to ask yourself...Would this team had been better off if,
1. they had replaced Marc Coloumbo with Tyrone Smith and left the rest of the o-line intact?
2. they had then used at least their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th picks to revamp the defense?

We watched the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos do that exact thing and the Texans moved from #30 to #2 in total defense while the Broncos moved from #32 to #20. Both teams made the playoffs and advanced with very suspect QB play. It's just my believe that with the addition of T.Smith the O-line became more serviceable than what they had on defense. As it stands right now both the o-line and defense are the same as they were last offseason.

Hard to complain about adding players like Tyron Smith and Demarco Murray. They did what the really good franchises do, they drafted the BPA's.

Did you somehow forget how old and exposed the OL was?

The Broncos and Texans also played pretty easy schedules when you consider the offensive opponents and the QB's they faced.

I like what the Texans are doing, but you also have to remember their defense basically had hit rock bottom. They did add a couple good players via the draft, but they also spent some significant $$$ on free agents. Wade is also a very good defensive coach.

But just because they were good this year, doesnt mean they'll be good next year. Our defense was as good as anyone's at the end of the 2009 season. There was no evidence to suggest they'd fall flat on their face in 2010, yet thats what happened.

Sensabaugh can be cut next year with very little cap repercussions so Jerry is not backed into a corner.

How would you have addressed the secondary with last years draft it was very poor in safeties, who do you consider a upgrade over Sensabaugh?

Dude, the cowboys don't need excuse after excuse. We need a real GM ASAP. Tired of the excuses.
