IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones won't be pain free when his team kicks off the season Sunday against the New York Giants, but he will feel better than he has in some time.

Jones had his right hip replaced last Friday about six weeks after undergoing surgery to have his left hip replaced.

Jones will be in attendance at the game but likely not as active as he normally would be before a game as he recovers. He will watch the game from his private perch above the owner's suite at AT&T Stadium. The hips had been troubling him for some time and doctors recommended he have the operations close together.

While in Oxnard, California, for training camp, Jones used a golf cart to get around the team's complex. He turns 73 next month.

"He's doing great and looking forward to being at the game on Sunday," senior vice president of public relations Rich Dalrymple said.
