I know he'll play. Filed paperwork with the NFL. Sorry should have said that

He is a RB from Florida. Also a silver medalist

I would sign him yesterday. Hell, I would have drafted him in the 7th even though it means we would have missed out on Caleb McSurdy /sarcasm

Isn't he like 5'6?

Pretty much, he's 5'7". This isn't the typical track guy seems fast - let's try football project. He was a proven player at Florida. He would make a nice return man and a third down back, slot receiver type. He'd be dangerous on bubble screens.

Do not want.

Unless he's Darren Sproles part II? He looks like a Woody Dantzler-utility player.

Ian Rapoport talking to Emmitt Smith...

Can Demps be a running back in the NFL?

“He has the speed, he can be a skill back,” Smith told me. “If he can run routes out of the backfield, become a third-down back, he can be very impressive. He can run draws, reverses and so forth. He can create a lot of havoc on the football field just by his speed alone. And that in itself can give any team, any offense, an additional weapon.“

Then, Smith’s mind began to wander.

“Especially if… let’s just say for the Cowboys, for example,” Smith said, using a hypothetical. “If he played for the Cowboys — not to say that we need him… But at the end of the day, if you got Dez (Bryant) out there, then you got Miles Austin and you have the other guys, Kevin Ogletree is still there, and so you add those players along with Jason Witten. Now, take Ogletree out, take Witten out and put a fourth guy like Demps in, it’s a different kinda game. And you got DeMarco Murray in the backfield along with Felix Jones. And teams are diming you. You can do what you want to do. So, adding in a guy like Jeff Demps, it’s all about the creativity of the offensive coordinator.“

Essentially, Demps brings a whole other level of things teams can do offensively. Should be fun to watch.

Without a doubt. We need as much talent on this team as possible.

Especially on offense where we need everything we can get to hide this piece of shit OLine.

He's basically an undrafted free agent and this fanbase seems to go crazy over UDFA's so I'm surprised some here don't want to sign him. He's a free player.

Also, good pub for whatever team signs the Olympian.

Would he be considered an UDFA? Wouldn't he have to wait for next years draft or something?

Nope. A Team still could have drafted him this past draft to hold onto his rights...think us with Herschel Walker or the Raiders with Bo Jackson... but they didn't since he informed all teams he wanted to focus on his track career. Once a player's senior year and NCAA eligibility is up they are automatically eligible for the draft. If they go undrafted in that next draft, they become an UDFA.

According to my sources (Twitter Discover function) the Tampa Bay Bucs are all over him. Other teams showing interest too but Tampa Bay is the team being brought up the most.
