How do you feel about our DL depth?

I've mentioned time and time again how I wanted to rebuild our DL like we did our OL. We did well in landing Gregory last night, and I felt we pissed away a golden opportunity to steal another potential starter in the third round in Grady Jarrett - who a number of well respected scouts have said was Clemsons best defender, or at least jumped out to them the most on film. Michael Bennett from OSU was also there, and would've been a steal.

But I won't rant too much about that because, again, we kinda lucked into landing a top 10 talent at #60.

New additions of course is Randy Gregory, whereever we play him, and of course Greg Hardy after week 10 or so.


On the one hand, I feel pretty good considering how well Crawford played last year, how optomistic I am about Lawrence stepping up, and how even Mincey played arguably he best season. That, coupled with Gregory and later Hardy. I feel like we might have some talent there.

That said, even with Crawford, Lawrence, Mincey... we couldn't get close to a gimpy Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs.


I'm about 95% positive we're going RB in round 4, and even if we were open, I sincerely doubt Jarrett or Bennett fell to us. So how do you feel about our DL depth? Are there other later round DTs/DEs you'd like to see us pursue?

Yeah, I've been wondering who is even going to start for us left end with Selvie gone. That depth chart isn't right because Crawford is a 3 tech, plus McClain, Brent and Golden Cock are all 1s.

That's unless they make Lawrence the LDE, which I think is the plan when Hardy comes back, and start Gregory on the right. But that's a lot to ask of a 230 lb rookie.

I thought we pretty well established he was better at 3-tech after first trying him at end?...

But to answer my own question, I totally forgot about Mincy. But in my defense, he's a forgettable player.

Definitely worried about our DTs. I like Crawford at 3-tech but depth is seriously lacking. Our 1-techs, holy shit. They must really think Brent is gonna turn into something. DEs worry me some only because who knows what we get from Gregory and Hardy can't be counted on at all right now.

Passed repeatedly on a number of quality players who would instantaneously be better than current players.
