On one side we have reform and a reduction in asinine spending and on the other we have class warfare, a desire to punish successful people, and even more spending.

House Republicans unveiled an ambitious cost-cutting plan Tuesday that would balance the budget in 10 years without raising taxes, while repealing ObamaCare and overhauling entitlements -- a document Democrats are sure to reject but could be used as a negotiating tool in talks with President Obama.

Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., chairman of the House Budget Committee, is sticking by controversial proposals, including one to give future Medicare retirees the option of using government payments for private health care plans.

In response, the White House issued a statement complaining that the plan does not include tax increases for top earners and said the president believes it is the "wrong course for America."

Senate Democrats promise to offer a counterproposal on Wednesday with higher spending on domestic programs and additional tax hikes on top of the higher rates imposed on top-bracket earners in January. Fox News confirms that the plan aims to achieve $1.85 trillion in deficit reduction over the next decade, half through spending cuts and half through tax hikes on top earners.

Ryan has probably forgotten more about the budget than Obama and his entire cabinet will ever know.

In addition to those reforms, the Ryan budget “calls for time limits and work requirements.” The committee said SNAP’s “flawed structure” needs reform because “states receive more money if they enroll more people in the program—so their incentive is to get people onto the rolls,” while states “have little incentive to help people get off the roles and find work. In fact, these programs make it harder to become independent.”

The Ryan budget also calls for the reinstatement of the work requirement for another welfare program, the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.

Come on now. We all know only business owners are inclined to be corrupt and abusive with their charges. This can't be at all realistic. He obviously just hates poor people.

Anyone touting Ryan's economic acumen is an imbecile. Not only was it obvious from the drop that his "plan" was an unfeasible piece of shit....then he was completely unable to defend it and got absolutely eviscerated by democratic fuckup extraordinaire, Joseph Biden.

Ffs people get a memory.

It's only unfeasible because it'll fly in the face of what people really want, which is free stuffs from the Gov'ment. When Guiliani proposed the idea of giving welfare and unemployment recipients jobs, they had fits and protested. So yes, in a way it is unfeasible because we have large segments of society fucking it for the rest of us.

Applaud the bottom up side you're on, it'll only be a matter of time before you feel it's effects and realize it's a crock of shit. Then of course you can blame Reagan for you problems.

Yes lets throw our poor and the elderly out on their asses. Good plan.

Its unfeasible because its bullshit. That became more and more clear as Ryan was pressed to explain how things were "revenue neutral". And now they want to resubmit (what appears to be) the same fairy tale bullshit that lost them an election?

Go sell crazy somewhere else, fundies. Those of us in the real world can't "suspend belief" long enough to swallow this horseshit.

Speaking of 'fairy' tales, their economic ideas didn't cost them the election, because the clowns who voted for Obama don't understand such issues. They're more educated in matters of personal sexual habits and fables about a bottom up approach to economics.

Fundamental means a basic and necessary core. Fundie isn't an insult.

Que race card...

Is this really what you tell yourself? That the entire democratic electorate has no idea about economics?

It's shit like this that gives me no hope for the US electorate. That is some dumbed down simpleminded bullshit.

You witness the utter mishandling of our economy by politicians, then turn and call someone who points it out simpleminded. Obama/Biden wasn't re-elected on their economic prowess. At all. We've all witnessed that as well as the administrations continued failures.

You can ignore that and call yourself broadminded.

I wasn't talking about the politicians stance. I was talking about you saying that Obama supporters were oblivious to the 'truth.' The obvious implication of that is that this shit is the 'truth.'

It is the exact same proposal that he presented last year down to the name "Path to Prosperity." It's also the same thing he and Mitt ran under and lost convincingly. Him just rolling it out again after the GOP lost ground in both chambers and the presidency is not exactly democratic. Posturing that there is some sort of economic 'truth' is just an excuse for blind partisanship.

The GOP is not setting up for a good midterm election for all of trotting out minority du jour for their SotU rebuttals. Combine that with a fundamental schism between the Randians and the Senate triumvirate plus Boehner and it's especially not looking good. I still hold out hope that we get a legitimate third party out of this.

What else can you call it? It's painfully obvious Obama wasn't re-elected based on his economic success. What's apparently lost is that two men, who do understand economics, one wildly successful as a business man were rejected in favor of someone who knows nothing about economics - and if he does, then you can only guess that he's treasonous with his awful policies -, when what this country needs now, more than anything is someone who understands the economy and budgeting. Not someone who pretends his jurisdiction reaches into the personal lives of the average American. He won on hot button topics, plain and simple.

Face it, he was elected on popular premises, nothing at all to do with necessity and pragmatic understandings of what this country needs most. People voting based on that nonsense must surely be clueless. Don't blame me for recognizing it.

I love how conservatives idea to fix the economy was to hand it to a "businessman" who was part of the system that tanked it in the first place.

retards seldom know they're making retarded decisions.

Economy has been rallying for years. Jobs are up, wages are slowly rising and unemployment is down. All from a president who "knows nothing about economics". Imagine if he took an economics course at Georgetown or a local community college. Ooooohhhh, or what if he became a neurosurgeon? Then he might know something.

Yes handing business over to business men is a sound idea, unless you think a defunct lawyer and proven liar is a great recipe for success. It's not a conservative notion, it's a practical one.

The private sector was the worst it's ever been over the last three years.

Stuffing newly created government agencies into your job growth package doesn't count. It doesn't help the economy to make the tax payer pay for yet another non-profitable bureacracy. It only helps for shallow people to claim he's created jobs.

You're kidding yourself.

Good news. For an idiot. It's all in the language for those who want to continue this charade of success because of popular issues.

89,301,000 'Not In Labor Force'
The unemployment rate declined in February from 7.9 percent in January mostly because more people found work. Another factor was that 130,000 people without jobs stopped looking for work last month. The government doesn't count them as unemployed.

And a quarter of those jobs were in the public sector, the rest are… ?
