I'm not saying firing RB coach Skip Peete fixes everything (or anything) for Cowboys. But sure can't think of any reason it's wrong.

So let me get this straight, if you are a coach and cant develop undrafted guys into dependable players, you should be canned?

Poor run game reason for Skip Peete depature

January, 7, 2013
By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

The Cowboys released running back coach Skip Peete of his duties on Monday. You could say somebody had to take the fall for one of the worst running attacks in the NFL in 2012.

When you finish 31st overall, it might be time to evaluate the run game. You can't blame Peete for all the problems, running back DeMarco Murray missing six games with a sprained foot, the inconsistency of Felix Jones, who played with two bad knees and the inconsistency of the offensive line, but when Jerry Jones said changes need to happen, then somebody has to go.

Peete had a year remaining on a two-year contract extension he signed in 2011.

One of the biggest problems with Peete, whether it was his fault or not, was the lack of development with two young running backs, Lance Dunbar and Phillip Tanner.

Dunbar and Tanner both struggled to backup Jones during the six games Murray missed. The pair got limited snaps on special teams and were ghosts on offense the last few weeks of the regular season.

Tanner didn't get a carry since Nov. 4 at Atlanta and he finished the season with 61 yards on 25 carries. He was also inactive for two of the last three weeks of the season.

Dunbar didn't get a carry since Thanksgiving and finished the season with 75 yards on 21 carries. The Cowboys expected more from the young running backs. Dunbar had some speed and Tanner was a physical presence, but neither seemed to impressed the offensive coaches.

Fullback Lawrence Vickers was signed in free agency as an upgrade over Tony Fiammetta, but he was uneven at times.

Typical scapegoating from this braintrust.

Garrett calls the plays, our pass/run ratio is one of the most uneven in the NFL, and we blame the RB coach???

Color me uninterested for 2013.

Maybe Jerry and Jason can make another huge statement and fire the equipment manager tomorrow.

I am happy Peete is gone now. Now keep Robinson and get rid of the rest of the offensive staff

I haven't been to the Zone lately, but I'm sure this is being lauded as a well overdue move and how Peete gave somebody cancer once.

I never much cared for Skip Peete, but I was hoping he'd be a part of a mass exodus of Wade Phillips/Jason Garrett coaches.

The Messiah will post how he wanted to punch Peete in the mouth.

Jaworski says Jon Gruden would be interested in Eagles

Posted by Mike Florio on January 7, 2013, 7:47 PM EST

Largely ignored for the first week of the 2013 hiring cycle, former Raiders and Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden seems to be doing his damnedest to create a market where none apparently exists.

Via John Clark of NBC10 in Philly, former in-booth partner Ron Jaworski of ESPN said on 97.5 The Fanatic that: (1) Jaworski has spoken to Gruden; (2) the Eagles haven’t reached out yet to Gruden; and (3) Gruden would be interested.

So much for Gruden being committed to ESPN.

Earlier today, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the Browns “might be” interested in Gruden. We promptly learned that the more accurate term is “aren’t.”

The end result seems to be an effort to inject Gruden into the discussion for one or more of the vacant jobs. And that’s an effort no one (especially Gruden) ever thought would be necessary when it comes to his return to the NFL. Everyone (especially Gruden) believed teams would be falling all over themselves to hire him.

Now, it looks like Gruden is falling all over himself to attract some/any interest.

Jorge and Raul were fired - they kept the grounds at Valley Ranch.

8-8 season? You better find another place to trim bushes.

HELL F-IN YEAH!!!! Thats what I'm talking about!
