i don't know yet, but we were too quick to dump a guy like Stephen Peterman in the past, and us fans (including mua) were too critical of him at the time and he developed quite nice for Detroit. We got Kowalski, Arkin, Nagy and the rookie Leary in the fold. Let's see if one of them at least pans out, that's all I'm saying. Oh and thanks for the welcome.

I'm pulling for Kowalski and Leary.

Did you know: the cowboys lead the league in rushing yards up the A hole last year? Think it was 5.3

Delayed draw ftw

without looking at the numbers I dont think we ran that draw as much last year. the interior was so poor we went to that toss play constantly that is absolutely awesome. I love the toss play and hope we see it a ton and also hope we throw it to the backs a ton.

anyway.

all we can do is hope. Hope costa is actually better, hope livings is good and healthy all season and hope we find a right guard from the pile....

I think vickers, murray and jones are going to be good.

callahan got a couple of good years out of charlie garner who is like felix. I am sure he will work the running game back into shape.

I don't know. Nagy's coach was surprised he was drafted, we haven't heard a thing about Arkin except he wasn't strongest to play last year when guards were dropping like flies and it looks like Costa is going to be the starting center again.

I think Jerry convinces himself that he can get by with less talent if he just hires a good coach to coach 'em up.

OL, DL and safety play will probably be the areas we're lamenting this year.

We'll see the same shit this year.

Even if the defense is better, there will be games where they hold the opponent to a low score all game and are ultimately sand bagged when the offense fails to score even a modest amount and opposition finally puts up one last score after having a handful of tries.

People will blame the defense for another "collapse" and ignore that the offensive output would have sunk the 85 Bears.

Dallas will drop more resources on the defense and the OL will be ignored again.

All I know is, the line has to play better if this team expects to seriously compete for a championship with the current cast of all-timers(Romo, Witten and Ware).

Id like to see more urgency out of the front office when it comes to the O-line. Not just drafting late round projects, but actually going aggressively after free agents or possibly trading for a G or C.

I know you can't fix the whole line in one or two years, but we're nearing the end here. Especially if Romo doesn't get better protection and a nice compliment out of the running game soon. DeMarco looked really capable last year, hopefully the line isn't as bad at run blocking as Barber and Felix made them look the last 3-5 years.

We'll see.
I think we've tried everything except drafting an interior OL early. We threw money at Leonard Davis, we got Kosier in FA, drafted some guys to throw out there who haven't yet panned out. This year we went back to the FA method. With most thinking drafting an interior OL in the first round is too early, we could try to dedicate second rounders to them... But our second rounders lately appear to be flyers on first round talent with injury/character concerns. Some have worked, some haven't.

Umm ok. The defense has been betting us beat consistently for the past two seasons even with some hit or miss interior play, it's the defense that has been terrible.

It had to be addressed.

The problem is guys they draft to play the line don't work out. Just like the secondary we can't find guys to help unless they are first rounders.

Free has been a miracle.

Agree. Offensive lineman take time to develop and I think fans give up to easily on them.

The problem is the Cowboys are in win now mode with Romo, and don't have time to screw around with OL prospects. They tried to fill in with mid range free agents while younger guys develop, but now with one of them hurt, they are going to be forced to play the young guys more early.

Sure, the defense had it's clunkers.

But the team also lost a handful of games where they allowed 20 points or less.
