Earlier this week, multiple videos surfaced on Reddit of a Michigan man
thrown from his truck aftercrashing into a house in Saginaw, Mich., located in the crook of the state’s mitten-shaped lower peninsula. The driver was catapulted from his flaming truck and landed on the home’s roof.
According to police who spoke to WJRT-TV and first aired the story on Monday, a 28-year-old man from nearby Bridgeport Township crashed into the home late in the afternoon on Saturday, September 7. The impact and a subsequent fire caused significant damage to the house. Three people were inside at the time, but none were injured.
One video
shows the man lying motionless on the roof until the initial shock wore off. Then, seeming confused, he sat up and looked around. While sprawled out near the roof's edge, a fireman appears to speak to him while the other firemen extinguished the flames.
The Saginaw Fire Department said three engines arrived on the scene, quickly extinguishing the fire.
While
one video of the crash circulating was titled “Drunk driver ejected during rollover crash and landed on the roof,” it is unknown if the driver was under the influence.
The man was taken to the hospital and was listed in “critical but stable condition,” according to ABC 12 News. The Saginaw police department declined the
Roofing Contractor’s request for more information or to release the man's identity, citing the ongoing investigation.
Several of the Reddit videos have since been removed, but
RC obtained a 15-second clip that is still floating around social media.
The most appropriate word that comes to mind about this story: Unbelievable.
