Part of mfg jobs farmed out to other countries means no OSHA no codes or standards for equipment meaning no e-stops no training on machine control no safety whatsoever. Lots of people die.

Police: Driver unable to stop at intersection, setting off crash in Northwest El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The driver of a tow truck was unable to stop in time at an intersection and set off a crash that involved 12 vehicles, killing one person and injuring more than a half-dozen others, El Paso Police said.

Police also identified the driver of the tow truck involved in the crash in this past Thursday, May 8 in Northwest El Paso.

1 dead, 8 injured after ‘mass casualty incident’ at Transmountain

Police say the preliminary investigation revealed that a white semi-truck and a black trailer became disabled at around 6 a.m. that morning on Loop 375.

A yellow tow truck was requested to tow both trailers off the roadway, and for unknown reasons, the driver of the tow truck, who has been identified as Alfredo Campos, 28, was not able to stop as it approached the intersection of Loop 375 and North Desert Road.

A 65-year-old passenger was in the yellow tow truck at the time of the crash and was killed. Police did not identify the man.

As a result, 12 vehicles were involved in the accident and several people were injured, police said.

Police say that five men and two women were injured in the crash. Initially, El Paso Fire reported that eight people were injured, including three who declined being transported.

As of Friday, May 9, Campos has not been charged regarding the crash.

The investigation is ongoing. This is the 22nd fatality of the year compared to 23 last year.

A jolting video showing one man ramming another with his car on Monday in Antioch after an argument over marijuana went viral with more than 1.5 million views, and police are investigating the incident as an assault.
The 2-minute, 20-second video posted on Twitter starts out in the middle of the argument, with one man in a gray hooded sweatshirt yelling at another wearing a cap, with a third man standing nearby listening. They’re all outside the capped man’s SUV on a quiet, neatly maintained street near an elementary school in the south part of town.

At 1:40 in the video, the man in the sweatshirt gets into his black sedan, which was parked in front of the SUV, and guns the car backward. He positions it facing the SUV. The man in the cap stands just outside his driver door and says, “Hit me with your... car, I dare you, bra’.”
That’s when the man in the black car slams his vehicle into the victim, shoving the SUV back with the force of the blow. The man in the cap cries out and hobbles to the sidewalk and falls down.
At 1:58 in the video, the man in the black car speeds off. A woman gets out of the SUV’s passenger side and shrieks, “Oh my god!” The victim moans, “Oh, my leg,” and a few seconds later the video ends.

An Antioch police spokesperson said the incident is being investigated, but declined to comment further.
The woman who shot the video said she began filming when she heard what sounded like a car crash outside her window at around 10:30 a.m.
“I walked outside and the dude in the gray North Face hoodie was tussling with the female in the SUV,” said Tatiana Slater, 19. “The North Face guy was getting choked by the other male, and that’s why he was choking later, trying to catch his breath.”
Slater’s boyfriend, Darius Fields, 20, was the third man in the video. He said the man in the hoodie said he ran a dispensary, and that the woman had stolen his marijuana and put it in her purse.
“I just wanted to de-escalate the situation, and nobody else was coming to their aid,” Fields said. “Stuff like that doesn’t happen in this neighborhood. It was crazy.”
Slater and Fields said that when the man in the hoodie got into his car, they thought he was getting a weapon.
“I was shocked when he did that with the car,” Slater said. “When the other guy fell onto the ground we went over and he told us his legs were broken. But after the ambulance came, he didn’t take the ride because he said he didn’t have medical insurance and didn’t want to pay the fee. So he tied his car door closed and drove himself to the hospital.”
Slater said the victim has communicated with her through social media, but she doesn’t know his name. She said he told her that instead of broken legs, he suffered a fractured hip and a cracked shin. She said he also told her he did not know his attacker, and that the woman in the car was a friend, but not a girlfriend.
“That was literally the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” Slater said. “I’m glad nothing even worse happened.”
The video, she said, was posted on Twitter by her brother, who serves in the Army in Georgia. The comments that proliferated in reaction ranged from sympathy and outrage to mocking and apparent enjoyment.
“Over weed?” posted on person with a confused emoji face.

Shocking moment California daredevil’s human cannonball stunt goes wrong in front of stunned crowd

An experienced stuntman is on the road to recovery after he was seriously injured when a gust of wind caused his world-renowned human cannonball act to go awry in front of a stunned crowd.

Chachi Valencia, known as The Rocketman Valencia, was performing the stunt at the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival in Indio, Calif., when he was blown off course on March 2.

Valencia missed the precise landing spot on his safety net, bounced back into the air and crashed down onto the concrete beneath him.

“Taking it day by day with my faithful pup by his side,” Valencia wrote in an update posted on his GoFundMe Monday, along with a picture of his arm in a cast, relaxing beside his dog.

“Grateful for time to heal and soak up all the love and snuggles. Here’s to brighter days ahead.”

Horrified festivalgoers watched as the daredevil’s body spun in the air for moments before the violent collision.

Festival workers rushed over to Valencia as he lay motionless on the ground.

The sixth-generation circus performer was rushed to the hospital and was diagnosed with broken ribs, a wrist injury, and a lacerated liver, according to his GoFundMe.

“Beyond the physical pain, the medical bills are already mounting, and the road to recovery will be long,” his son, David Valencia, wrote.

“He’s facing significant time away from work and his passion, and the financial strain is adding to the stress on his health and well-being.”

The free-flying performer remembered being pushed “all the way over to the edge of the net” before he blacked out.

“From then on, I don’t remember anything until I was in the ambulance and on the way to the hospital,” Valencia told NBC 5 on March 7.

The death-defying stunt — which requires a precise calculation for him to pull off the 300 to 500 times a year he performs the act for crowds around the globe — by taking all elements into effect when mapping out his trajectory, he told USA Today.

The stuntman said he had practiced the stunt with the wind in consideration the day before, but when he was performing the act during showtime, the gust that hit him was more powerful than he had prepared for and pushed him directly back.

He was just 15 minutes into his performance when the terrifying incident happened.

Valencia stayed at a relative’s house in California following the accident but has since returned to his home in north Texas.

He said he hopes to be able to return to performing his beloved stunt for fans as soon as possible.

Valencia, who’s been involved in the human cannonball act for three decades, is shot from a cannon and hits 55 mph as he’s launched 65 feet in the air to land on the net perched 20 feet off the ground, according to his website.

Valencia told USA Today that for the first 15 years of being involved in the stunt, he shot his now-ex-wife out of the cannon before taking over.

He has performed his human cannonball act on some of the biggest stages imaginable.

The free-flying stuntman was televised being shot out of the cannon during the 2012 London Olympics’ closing ceremonies, at Rio de Janeiro’s 2014 Carnival competition, and in front of NASCAR fans at the Texas Motor Speedway in 2022, according to his website.
