Law went into effect last month.

unfortunately, like other states, were told not allowed by us govt. Therefore the congress want it changed to perm daylight time ... If that is passed and president sign that means we will have to add an hour depending on what other countries in the world.

It IS allowed, several states got rid of it, some never used it.

CORRECTION by me - the bill to end DST in Texas passed the Texas House, but died in the Senate.

Federal law allows all states to adopt standard time permanently but not savings time, by the way. Our bill would have allowed Texans to vote on which one they wanted.

I prefer daylight savings time, but would it be more scientifically accurate to set the clocks to noon based on when the sun is directly overhead. It is not perfect because that is not the same for an entire time zone but perhaps we just need a single reference point at a specific time of year.
