Underrated outside of Cowboys fandom...

Underrated indeed. And proved nearly impossible to replace until we drafted Jason Witten in 2003.

It's still too bad LaFleur's career was derailed by injuries. He'd have never been Novacek but he could have been a solid player.

Eric Bjornson showed some ability as a pass catching TE too, but neither he or LaFleur could replace Novacek.

They thought Bjornscrub was a Novacek clone coming out of Washington. But he wasn't.

Never showed the same type of athletic ability or the savvy route running ability Novacek had, he also had a lot of untimely drops.

To me this is THE day we turned the corner. Take out Troy? Pick yer poison.

God, I miss having competence leading and coaching football operations, it gave me confidence and a reason to be optimistic and hopeful

Now all we have is bullshit which only gives me the confidence to say things smell like shit...year in and out

Ironically it was Beuerlein quarterbacking Notre Dame on the losing end of the 58-7 debacle vs. Jimmy's Miami squad back in '85. Oh and, let's not forget Jimmy had to learn the hard way to always have a great backup QB in the NFL.

Laufenberg was God awful at the end of the 90 season (Eagles and Falcons) and they went into that offseason getting a decent backup QB as an extremely high priority. And went and got Beuerlein, I think for a 4th or 5th rd pick.

It was a 4th, Al Davis hated him.
